Rent rights?

Does anyone know if the rights to Rent are available? I'm thinking no (all the colleges in North America would be putting it on right now), but my university's drama troupe want to stage it.

I want the rights to URINETOWN. It is perfect for theatres with a low budget.

Now that the tour is over, maybe we will get URINETOWN soon?
"The Spectacle has, indeed, an emotional attraction of its own, but, of all the parts, it is the least artistic, and connected least with the art of poetry. For the power of Tragedy, we may be sure, is felt even apart from representation and actors. Besides, the production of spectacular effects depends more on the art of the stage machinist than on that of the poet."

re: Rent rights?

Not necessarily true. Beauty and the Beat has given rights to 5 regional theatres for their 2004-05 season. I know one of them is in Daytona , Fla.

re: Rent rights?

The rights are not out. I went on some RENT site awhile ago, and it said that Julie Larson (Jon Larson's sister, who's in charge of all this) has not released the rights yet.

re: Rent rights?

RENT is not even listed "for future release" by any of the licencing agents. MTI already has The Producers in their catalog -even though it won't be available for years.

Beauty & The Beast is also available for community theatres. As has been noted here, the odd contract says you cannot infringe on copywrights regarding the "look" of the show - Belle MAY NOT have a blue jumnper dress or a gold ball goawn!
