re: Rent vs The Producers

I'm looking more forward to The Producers movie because I'am a HUGE Mel Brooks fan, I love his movies. Also, out of the four original cast memebers in the film, the only one that I saw in his original part was Gary Beach, so I am looking forward to see Nathan, Matthew, and Roger in the film.

I'm also looking forward to seeing Will Ferrell as Franz, I'm such a big fan of his, and I know he's going to be hysterical as Franz.

A little side note is that I used the original Producers movie for my film class final and got an A on it.

re: Rent vs The Producers

Me being a airhead groupie of Roger Bart, both production is Roger Bart related and so dear to me from different reason, either on stage or screen...even before seeing any bit of it. I am so easy to be pleased. I just cannot wait for both coming out!

re: Rent vs The Producers

I am more excited about seeing RENT, but the bottom line for me is that I am thrilled more Musicals are being made into movies.

Ha! Do I even have to say it? Rent (isn't it obvious)! But I do want to see The Producers. What can I say? I love musicals, especially when they're turned into movies, because then I can see them whenever I want on DVD. Elyse. No day but today.

re: Rent vs The Producers

Which am I most personally invested in and will obsess over and focus on for the next 5 months of my life?

Well, that would be RENT.

If I had to pick which I'd like to do really well with the critics and the award ceremonies, I would also have to go w/RENT. (Though, what I think will REALLY HAPPEN is another story... I think, sadly, the critics and awards will go to The Producers instead.)

However, I'm looking forward to both. I wish both of them well. I will probably see both of them more than once. I will definately buy both on DVD. I'm VERY excited to see The Producers (LOVED the old movie- and did you see the stills from the set? TOTAL replica of a scene in the old movie- and had a really good time at the stage show). However, I'm going to internally combust if I don't see RENT the first day its released.

Basically: I have a lot of fun with The Producers. But RENT is one of my true loves...

The Producers - WILL BE a hit and great.

Rent - COULD BE a hit and great.

Equal anticipation here.

re: Rent vs The Producers

I'm not interested in seeing people play parts that they are 15 years too old to play. Nice to have original performers but there should be a statute of limitations. I didn't like Rent when I saw it years ago and expect nothing to change now.
