"Rent" Promotions - upcoming

I know there's already threads about the "Rent" poster and all that, but one of the previous threads mentioned something about individual posters of the cast (and many people said they didn't see that happening) -- So I wanted to address that.

I work at a movie theatre and just got 3 of the "Rent" posters today from my manager, and I've already asked my manager for ANY "Rent" item that comes in until November. That includes posters AND...

BANNERS. You know those long, enormous, vinyl banners that hang in the movie theater lobbies??... Direct from my theater's Promo Manager's mouth, Sony is releasing 8 LONG individual character banners! For EACH cast member!! (my guess would be using the pictures from that awesome wallpaper that was released!)

I just thought I'd inform you guys, and while they most likely won't be available in stores, I'd keep my eyes on eBay over the next few months if you want them (or find your nearest multiplex as FAST as possible and beg beg BEG the managers for them.)

I can't wait to get mine, eek!!

It's insane how many auctions for the promotional movie poster have already surfaced on e-bay !!!! Where did they get it already ?

directly from the movie theaters, most likely. That's where I got mine.

Looks to me that someone already got autographs from the cast last week.....

Wish I would have had a movie poster when I was at bryant park to have them sign. That movie poster is KILLER. I love it.

The movie poster is nice, but I prefer the OBC theatrical one ! Alas, I am searching all over the net for it and can't find it anywhere !!!! The ones on ebay are either ridiculously expensive or don't ship to Europe !!! Why oh why did I wait so long before deciding I want it ?

you think i can get them at posters speciality stores. cause i know of one in toronto, any chance they could get these banners or posters for me, or do i need to make a friend who works in a theater?

Thanks for the heads up on the Movie Lobby Banners! Loews Lincoln Square on the Upper West Side of Manhattan "specializes" in those kind of huge displays, I'll be on the look out:)

I would assume the individual character posters will also be revealed in the near future. They'll be everywhere - in magazines, on bus stops, subways, etc.

Speaking of future promotional "stuff"...how cool would it be to see life size card-board cut outs of all eight characters standing in the SOL position. Can you just imagine walking into a movie lobby and seeing them all lined up against the wall!!

I'm hoping Sony puts up a "Store" on the official movie website to sell RENT stuff (Posters, etc).

Someone on the RENT Blog team said the movie posters would be available soon but did not specify when/where.

i hope theyre available in stores (the banners too), i dont think the movie theatres near me would give it out (i live in a very snobby town :-/ ).

The banners won't be available to buy, but movie posters almost always are.

For anyone in the LA area, there's a collectible show in City of Industry called Frank and Son Collectible show. They have it twice a week, Wednesday nights and Saturdays. There's one stand that sells all sorts of tv and movie posters/banners. They have older and newer posters, and my assumption would be that they would be the best bet for the kind of seller who would have the banners.

I plan on heading over there in the next few weeks - they usually get the new posters as they're released.

I actually really wouldn't mind working at a movie theater. The local AMC is fairly sanitary, but a.) I already have a job and b.) I can't drive, and it's a bit too far to walk. Rats.

As for the banners, WickedRocks... you've probably seen them. They often hang from the ceilings in the lobbies of cinemas, and when they're there, they are hard to miss, since they're quite huge, most of the time.

Also, many movies nowadays produce calendars !! Wouldn't a RENT 2006 calendar be great with 8 big individual cast member's pictures and 4 group ones ?
