#1Report on Thursday night shows
Posted: 11/29/07 at 6:47pm

Post what you're seeing, and later I'll change the title of the thread to be a report on the energy/atmosphere of the shows tonight, which I'm sure will be amazing.

I got a Spring Awakening center orch rush seat this afternoon, very excited. I've never rushed it before, and apparently they don't usually give center orch, so awesome!

Can't wait to hear about everyone else's nights, and everyone have a fantastic time!

Hay-laa, Hay-laa, Broadway's back!

I couldn't go tonight because of work but I have Drowsy tickets for tomorrow.

I can't wait to hear what the first shows back from the strike are like. If they're a little emotional, or if anyone adds anything... it'll be exciting. re: So, who's going to a show tonight? Let us knoww!!

Not tonight, but tomorrow night! So excited!

It was a really great night. Throughout the theater, everyone -- ushers, ticket takers, merchandise sellers were all smiles and friendly and so happy. It was a warm and wonderful environment.

Spring Awakening was, as expected, full of energy. I've only sat off the stage once, so it was great viewing the show from such a great seat. The audience was thrilled to be back, and I think the applause after "Totally F*cked" lasted about 2 minutes. The cast was in great voice and very energetic.

There were TV cameras EVERYWHERE. They even were in the theater during intermissiona nd at the end of the show. Apparently, I was on CBS news tonight, standing around at intermission. I didn't think taping in the theare like that was allowed...I guess as long as the stage isn't filmed? And yeah, when I walked out, towards the subway, there were TV cameras all over the place, interviewing anyone who went to shows.

But weirdest part of the whole night -- no BCEFA speech. Weird, you'd think they would wanna get that started ASAP. Were there speeches at the other shows, does anyone know?

How long is the BCEFA drive? I will be there next week and even though I plan to buy the Holiday CD, I would also like to give at the theater.

I assume given that Gypsy of the Year has been postponed, the drive will extend and continue until then, which is Mid-December.

Legally Blonde was amazing as well! I didn't notice any media presence there, but there was an obvious energy in the audience as well as on stage. Each 'lead' added a little extra flair to the night, like extra mannerisms or reaching an extra high note or something.
And at the end of the show, Laura Bell made a very sweet speech about welcoming Broadway back, and concluded with a speech about BCEFA and the donations they were collecting.
I made my little contribution and left the theatre feeling really happy about the night as a whole re: So, who's going to a show tonight?

I was working at Chicago. Barry Weissler made a short speech at the begining of the show. He later asked one of the other bartenders how he thought the speech was. We also had the first nights of Aida Turturro (quite good all around), Vincent Pastore (good acting, Mr. Cellophane not so hot), and Maxwell Caulfield (very good, until it came to hitting that note at the end of ...both reached for the gun). The rest of the cast was in good form. Particularly Michele DeJean. She was great.
I barely made it over to Phantom for collecting, but they were out in force.

SPRING AWAKENING has participated very little to BCEFA and I am not sure why, they were not in EASTER BONNET last year or had anyone in BROADWAY BARES.
Maybe they don't get it.
There were TV cameras all over Broadway tonight, I hear the LEGALLY BLONDE girls did a special version of OH MY GOD in front of the Theatre before half hour, hope it shows up somewhere.
Glad we are all working again.

I saw THE SEAFARER last night. There were cameras outside the theatre before the doors opened. There was no BC/EFA speech afterward.

I would expect nothing less from Michelle. Im so over Chicago, but I need to get back up there to see her as Roxie again. She's such a talent.

I was at Is He Dead? last night and had a fantastic time. The show is in VERY good shape. Norbert is so much fun, and the audience was right with them the whole time. As the curtain rose, there was this very excited cheering/clapping just from those of us happy to be back in a Broadway theatre again.

That is totally not true. It was about half the house.

Not sure about the lack of participation in other BCEFA events but the fact much of the cast is young and under 21 might have to do with the lack of participation in Broadway Bares.

They made a BC/FA speech after A Chorus Line on Thurs, which is what I saw to celebrate. Show was amazing, I sat in the front row, center section. Such wonderful energy in the theatre re: So, who's going to a show tonight?
