I am going to London and will be able to see three shows. So far, The Bodyguard and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. I have seen all the plays in London that have played on Broadway. I would love recommendations for a third show and also recommendations for restaurants in the London theatre district. Thank you so much!

I would ask on the West End board. BTW saw The Bodyguard last Dec, and LOVED IT!

I second posting this over at the West End board. They would probably have a better idea of what's over there.

I think I will take your advice. Thanks!

If you want a great night for dining and maybe a bit of star-spotting, this list of restaurants may be useful.

I have been to Criterion (Piccadilly Circus), The Ivy ( near where they show THE MOUSETRAP, I think, and the Palace Theatre...but my Brit friend took a month to get a reservation), and Mon Plaisir ( Covent Garden?) - and they were all good.
There are many other places that can be excellent choices. One Covent Garden restaurant ( Browns) serves British food - another good option.

Wow. You gave me alot of great advice. Thanks so much Jo.
Went over 2 weeks ago. Saw Bodyguard , charlie and Dirty Rotten Scoundrels. All good choices. Ate at Joe Allen (similar to NY), Christopher's and an Italian restaurant (cannot remember the name!) on The Strand about 2 blocks east of the Adelphi Theatre. All good - Christopher's excellent and great Martinis too!
Have fun!

I think I am going to book Christophers and Joe Allen. Thanks so much for the advice.
Christopher's (expensive) and Joe Allen are good choices. For the best steak in all of London, you've got to try:

These are all good recommendations (and I'd second Hawksmore as well) though their fayre is pretty similar (I hope you're not a vegetarian)! Great locations for the show's that you're seeing too - though there are so many nice places to choose from in the Covent Garden/Neal Street area of town that you're bound to land on your feet.
I'd throw into the mix:
Rules (oldest restaurant in London - and behind The Adelphi Theatre) http://www.rules.co.uk
Clos Maggiore (voted London's most romantic restaurant - equidistant to The Adelphi and Drury Lane) http://www.closmaggiore.com
J Sheekey's if shell fish and sea food is your thing and you're all red meated out

Lovely views of London for a pre show drink can be had from the rooftop bars at:
The Royal Opera House Amphitheatre Bar/ Terrace (outside for Covent Garden Piazza or inside for the spectacular Opera Bar/My Fair Lady set backdrop beneath). It's open lunchtimes to the general public but evening access is restricted to Opera House ticket holders

Radio Bar at The ME hotel, Aldwych for views of Covent Garden/The river and the South Bank
It's not cheap but it's a great spot for a cheeky cocktail if you time it right before the office folks decend and make getting in a mission. Walkins are admitted without reservation space depending but door staff can be a bit stuffy.

If you're still looking for suggestions, Fiori Corner is a cute and reasonably priced restaurant, opposite the Hippodrome in Leicester Square. I normally go there before a show.

You can never go wrong with the Italian chain restaurants in London (way better than our Italian chains-- Olive Garden I'm looking at you!
My favorite is Zizzi, though Strada, Ask, Pizza Express and Prezzo are equally good. But stay away from the Spaghetti House and Bella Italia.
There are two very good French chains as well: Cote and Cafe Rouge.
Most are medium priced and most have very good displayed specials.
Cote! Thank you! I happened upon it when I was there a few years ago, and it was really pretty delicious.
I really like Salvador & Amanda on Great Newport Street just off St. Martin's Lane. It's also open very late (comparatively at least)

"...and Mon Plaisir ( Covent Garden?) - and they were all good"
Mon Plaisir (on Monmouth Street near Seven Dials in Covent Garden) is a great French restaurant with uncharacteristically friendly service.
Unless, of course, you're French in which case they revert to form.
"an Italian restaurant (cannot remember the name!) on The Strand about 2 blocks east of the Adelphi Theatre."
I think you may mean Salieri? Great restaurant, in a great location - always my recommendation!
Salieri is good; I've eaten there a number of times.
