Just out of curiosity, when shows are being licensed and on the site is "restricted" am I correct in saying that this usually because there's about to be a major production of it being done? Or are there other reasons that this happens?

The most common reason is a major production. Sometimes the shows are restricted because changes are being made to the material for easier licensing or to adjust the available materials (different orchestrations, cuts or added scenes approved by the creators, newly recovered material for older shows, etc.). Sometimes shows are acquired for licensing but remain restricted for a certain period of time because of contracts (meaning they will be allowed to license the show, but only after a certain date).

It may also be marked as "restricted" because the rights are not universally available. It could be a situation where they will only license to a youth or educational program, or only to a professional company and not to community theatres, etc. There are also the restrictions based on distance from a certain location as well.
