Well merchendise has always been my passion- studying marketing/merchendising in school but anyways...
Tours need to make money- by having merch then can get word of mouth out better, and create more hype. Whe I walked into the pantages the merchandise booth was dark and really was an eye sore. Everyone was just standing there doing nothing, unlike other shows where people browse the merchendise and look at subscriptions. It seemed like they were not proud of the show.

Molly should be reminded that without her fans and an audience, she wouldn't be star at all.
I guess she doesn't care anymore.

Well, I have heard from many people who stage doored when she was in Cabaret that she is a nasty bitch.
She must think it is still 1985 and she is a hot commodity.

Though she could've been nicer at the stage door, you don't know her. How do you know she didn't have something afterwards?
When I saw Sweet Charity with Christina, even though she was very gracious at the stage door, the stage door manager said no pictures. Perhaps they just didn't want Molly hanging around after especially since it was getting late.
Again she could've been nicer but she isn't obligated to sign pictures and take time to meet with fans even if that is in her benefit.

How sad is to hear that a performer has such a bad attitude toward the people who basically pay her bills. Liza Minnelli
-who is a way bigger star-had the option to go straight to her limo, but chose to greet the public after her concert in Clearwater FL. Thanks for the details, I will not attend to see this show again, the Broadway version was amateurish, and the Buenos Aires production I just witnessed was very impossible to top and respected the original choreography by Fosse. I'll skip Molly and this tour. By the way, Christina Applegate wasn't very graceful after the show on Broadway either.

Posted: 10/23/06 at 6:55pmI know she does not have to stay and sign. But she could have waved. It wasn't a special night where she had some place to ber as she has done this at every show every stop almost. Also the driver of the car could have said sorry to my friend for almost running her over.

Posted: 10/23/06 at 6:59pmAll I'm saying is she simply couldn't have wanted to be bothered. As terrible as that sounds, after working sometimes you just don't want to even be bothered with anyone, and especially since it was so late, she probably didn't want to have to deal with signing autographs and meeting people. Perhaps that was the reason she didn't come out until 1 hr 15 min after the show ended because she figured people would've left by then. I'm not condoning her behavior, but she probably just didn't want to be bothered.

Posted: 10/23/06 at 7:00pmIf I were a performer, and I have people who wait for me, and even more if there are only 5, so if I spend about 30 seconds with each one, I will lose about 2 mins and a 1/2 of my time, I would pretty much feel obligated to greet them. But that's just the way I am.

Posted: 10/23/06 at 7:05pmI totally agree, emo. When I saw Sweet Charity on Broadway the week before Christmas, I knew going in that Christina did not do pictures. Despite that, she took 5 minutes in a driving rain to sign autographs for the four of us who were waiting there. She also made a point to thank every one of us personally for waiting through the weather to meet her. Compared to what Molly did in LA, Christina is a class act.

Posted: 10/23/06 at 9:16pmI'm having such bad luck at the stage door lately. First Shoshanna Bean completley ditched talking to anyone (which, I could understand a little because honestly I stage door a lot and I've never seen it that crowded, it was overwhelming to me even as a fan) and now I'm anticipating a horrible expierence at sweet charity. Oh well, if she doesn't want appreciation then she doesn't deserve it.

"This was because everyone already felt sorry because the theatre was half empty."
That is so funny!
I know stage-dooring isn't apart of a performer's job but, they are your fans and you should be gracious to them. Molly isn't a big a she used to be. If Patti Lupone didn't stage door(which does happen a few times) a lot of people would be disappointed but, Patti is so talented she can do whatever she wants and get away with it. In this case, Molly is not talented in this show and, is not nice at the stage door. Not Good.

Posted: 10/24/06 at 12:34amI've been to plenty of shows where a certain actor or actress has walked out of the stage door completely ignoring fans, not waving to them, and not even a simple glance in their direction. They're human, they have their own lives, and they have every right in the world not to associate with you. They did their job onstage for you, whether you enjoyed the performance or not. If they want to come off as a b!tch and not be gracious to fans, that's their business. There must've been a reason Molly waited 1 hr and 15 min to come out of the stage door because she probably figured that no one would actually wait an that long for her. Well, she was wrong, and while some actors may choose to stop and mingle with fans, she didn't, move on with it - it's not the end of the world.

Just speculation but... perhaps the director kept her after to give her 'notes' on her performance.... and she didn't like what they had to say, hence her avoidance.
I realize that no one is under any 'obligation' to meet/greet fans but you would think the producers would highly encourage the cast to, given how poorly its selling (and most of the reviews I've seen aren't to complimentary either).
On merchandise... you would think that they would at least bring along some shirts, thats free advertising for them... and maybe that might actually help them sell some tickets.

I wish it were something as excusable sounding as that, but unfortunatley with all these reports I'm hearing it sounds like she is constantly against it.
And emo_geek, I agree with what you mean about merchandising. I'm really into studying marketing too. Something about having everything nicely tied together through promotional items and similar looking collateral materials just brings something to a tour, at least in my opinion. Its hard to explain, maybe its only people who are really into that sort of thing who get it.

Posted: 10/24/06 at 4:45pmAw man, I was really excited to see this show in Buffalo....hmm. Is it worth it just to see the show as a whole, to get the storyline and such, considering I've never seen Sweet Charity...or would I be better off not seeing it like this...? :P
I love Les Miserables.
My new pic is me(on the left)at my last dance recital:(

I hated her performance. I wanted to say, "YOU SUCK, Molly!" but of course, I didn't.

Posted: 10/25/06 at 12:06amI'm so conflicted. Do I go the stage door and deal with the 99% chance that she will absolutley ignore me? or Do I skip it so I'm still able to not be completely annoyed with the fact that she is so stuck up?

Posted: 10/25/06 at 2:37amI don't know what all the negative buzz with the show or Molly is! I saw the show in San Jose and thought it was amazing! Molly was terrific in it. She has a great comedic touch and her singing was alright. Her dancing was a bit off, but it was okay because I didn't feel her character would be a good dancer anyways. I liked the show a lot, and am seeing it again in Sacramento in a few weeks. However, after the show at the stage door I was very dissapointed by Molly's rudeness. There were a few fans waiting for her, including a teenager girl. Molly came out and the teenage girl told her that she loved her 80's movies and Molly said "Wow, haven't heard that one before." I was very shocked and hurt that she would treat her fans like that. After saying that she quickly got into her car that was parked a few feet from the stage door and off she went. What a bitch. I saw her hours before the show walking outside and she looked like a hooker. My friend and I were laughing because she had these huge glasses on and her hair done up like a drag queen, as well as the fact she was wearing a skirt and high heels. We didn't say anything because she had a child with her.
