"'THE Seafarer" doesn't open for a cou ple of weeks, but already the word is out: If you want to see some of the best acting ever on a Broadway stage, don't miss this gripping new play at the Booth by acclaimed Irish writer Conor McPherson.
Tony nominations are going to be showered all over the cast, which includes Conleth Hill, who does the best drunk scene since Alan Bates' blurry turn in "Fortune's Fool David Morse, tightly coiled as an alcoholic desperately trying to stay away from the bar; Ciaran Hinds, a slickly menacing rich man with a demonic streak; and Jim Norton, hilarious as a blind old drunk right out of Sean O'Casey land.
"The Seafarer," I have to report, is struggling at the box office.
If Broadway can't support acting on this level, then it deserves "Grease.""

Thank you for finding that out, I was thinking about that yesterday.
That guy Short doesn't sound like someone to mess with. Went after his son with a baseball bat?

All of the NTNY (National Theatre/New York) which the seafarer is have had the following policy in terms of student rush. Two per ID.
I agree with Ridel in his statment. But, Sea Farer just started previews. Keep in mind that plays attract more of a local audience. So there is a chance that people are just wating for reviews/word of mouth to kick in. Give it time.
But, I do agree. If people cannot like the acting in this show then they deserve the drek that is the grease revival.
