My friend left at intermission, and I stayed. So, I think that right there sums up the show. It's not for everybody. But I think it will do well regionally. It's an easy show to stage.

Whoopi said to "not go by the reviews"? Maybe it would have been better if she just left that part out.

Yeah, didn't think that was too smart. Whoopi has raved about flops before (Margaritaville, Spongebob, Honeymoon in Vegas, the Ragtime revival), so doubt this helps.
