I always wanted to write a Beetlejuice musical if I ever got enough career exposure to pursue the rights, and even did a dramaturgical mock-up of one for my freshman year college project. That said, I've heard whispers for ages that Tim Minchin was working on something big and I wonder if this is it, now that "Groundhog Day" is up and running.

I knew that Warner Bros. was trying to develop a Beetlejuice musical- I believe it's been offhandedly mentioned in other articles with no other information over the last few years- but it's nice to see it going forward. It's a film that I think would actually make for a good stage show, given its outsize and almost theatrical quality. Timbers is a good choice for it.
