LMFAO!! Yea right!!! If anything Vanessa Hudgens would be nominated over Leanne Cope. I agree with you on your predictions though. I can also see Lisa Howard sneaking in there
Kind of off topic- but does anyone ever do the Gold Derby predictions? After years of "lurking" this year I joined in on the predictions around Oscar season.
For their Tony nominations predictions they are slowly adding in more categories but with lead actress predictions Beth Malone isn't an option. Is that because she's below the title and that meeting hasn't happened yet? Right now I have Hudgens and LMK for the final two and reading this thread I was like "duh I forgot Beth Malone" to realize she's not even an option.
^Apparently, her category placement hasn't been placed yet.
For my Gold Derby predictions, I put both Erin Davie and Emily Padgett.

Oh Philly. I can't wait for your reaction when Leanne Cope is nominated.
wait wait wait waittttt a minuteeee!!! you actually think Leanne Cope will be nominated??? whaaaaaaaat? WRONG!
She's got a better shot than Hudgens, for sure. Leanne Cope was given excellent reviews while Vanessa's were mixed to negative.

I've been dying to ask this, Philly.
Is you incessant use of extra vowels and end letters in your "contributions" your way of affecting a drawl? A lisp? Or, God forbid, the way you really talk out loud? If it is merely emphasis, try italics or bold... maybe even a tasteful sprinkling of underlining...

Philly, I've seen American in Paris. You haven't. Guess who's actually wrong?
Yeah, but I've heard better things about Hudgens than Cope. You people act like reviews are purely what determine what shows/people will get nominated. It sounds like people enjoyed Hudgens performance than Cope. And I couldn't count out Lisa Howard either.
Philly, you haven't seen any of those shows if any, so how can you justify your position on predicting possible nominations...by guessing and what other people are saying?
AND Cope is in the hot show that just received raves and she excellent reviews as Hudgens did not.
The reviewers aren't the ones making the nominations! And when predicting shows, it doesn't matter what I thought about it, it matters what most people thought about it! Ive heard from several people that Cope is forgettable while Hudgens is very good in the show

I'm saying I think Leanne Cope will be nominated because I saw the show and thought she was great. Not because of what anyone else thinks or said.
See Philly? Robbie2 has effectively used bold and italics to show emphasis in his points. Try it.
noooooooowooooowooowoooo. All the boys on here have crushes on me
jsktheater, neon
Thank you...yes, WE see shows and discuss here and predict based on our evaluation not like some people
Yeah, but I've heard better things about Hudgens than Cope.
From who your Mom?! You don't know anyone in the Broadway industry and you don't know anything about it either. Stop lying for once.
lol i see almost every musical over the summer, and breaks! Plus, I'm gonna see lots of plays this year cause they all look so good!! Skylight, Wolf Hall, Living on Love, Hand to God, Curious Incident, An Act of God!!
ummmm NO! I know people! Tony Votersssss, and friends, plus people on this board! Even on here, I didn't see to many people talking about Leanne Cope

At this point I would definitely give more of an edge to Leanne Cope over Hudgens but frankly I wish the Side Show girls would slip in the final two slots. I loved both of them but the odds of that seem slight at this point...unless one of them pulls off a Laura Osnes surge from behind.
Someone mentioned Goldderby and that is where I often post and yes they often miss some contenders on their prediction lineups. The Tony board is very quiet over there as it is more about movies and TV but I do love the discussions and the prediction tables.

Everyone on here hates you. You have no friends on here and you certainly don't know any Tony Voters.
Another perfectly good thread ruined by Phylli whatshisname. I blame Ljay for jinxing it by saying Phylli had said something that was not incredibly objectionable (joking around with you, Ljay; not so much with whatshisname).
Re Leanne Cope, never underestimate how much the voters love a great dancing performance. Elizabeth Parkinson got in for MOVIN' OUT in the lead actress category and Karine Plantadit-Bageot surprised a lot of people with her nomination for COME FLY AWAY. I wouldn't be surprised in the least to see Cope edge out Kelly.
LOL you guys are sooo wrong about meeeee. I know more people than you think thats for sure, and I did not "ruin" this thread. That was you!

Leanne Cope will be nominated - An American in Paris will pick up a ton of nominations - but its only sure-fire win will be Choreography.
I'm not sure why many people are saying this morning that after the reviews it's clearly Kelli's year - if anything her reviews were stronger for Bridges of Madison County. And just like with that unassuming performance last year, she has to be seen as the underdog to performers who are giving showy, outsized star turns, since that's what Tony loves - whether it's Audra winning her millionth award last year as Lady Day, or Katie Finneran in her scene-stealing cameo in Promises Promises beating Angela Lansbury in what could be a capper to her musical theatre career in Night Music.
If Kelli wins, it will be for sentiment - but I just don't see that many people (aside from her friends and agents) saying "Hell, let's just give it to her already". Besides, if people are voting for sentiment, then Chita gets that contingent. My strong hunch is it will be a photo fight to the finish between Kristin and Chita, with Kelli once again having to wait for a showier role in a different year.
Similarly, Riedel is right about the 4 Musical nominations, for once - American in Paris, Fun Home, Something Rotten and The Visit. My guess is that it'll be the first two squarely in the lead - amid that pack, the other two very worthy nominees will be seen as too light (Something Rotten) and too dark (The Visit), with Fun Home and American in Paris striking the right balance between entertainment and art. My heart and gut still tell me Fun Home will take it in the end, just as Gentleman's Guide (a somewhat less worthy show) was the little one that could last year.
Bookmark this and we'll see if I'm right in a few months.

A suggestion.
Post a performance video so we can actually see that you ARE that all singing/talking/dancing Broadway STAR,[spunk] that you say you are--then, and only then, will we take you seriously.

I agree, I love Gold Derby and am a frequent poster in their Emmy and Tony forums.
For the past few years, I've written quite a few articles about the Tony Awards for them, too, but their coverage of theater awards is always lackluster. I can't necessarily blame them, since the Tony forums indicate that there isn't a terrible amount of interest from their users, but those of us who do comment over there always write very insightfully.
I would definitely encourage people to use their prediction center for Tony Awards, since it's fun and you can establish leagues with friends to compete against each other. I never use it until the nominations are announced and they populate all of the categories, though, since the don't enter ever single possible contender prior to the nominations and you therefore can miss a lot of the surprise nominees.
