........I didn't understand it.
Really, BWW -- what is the point of putting up a video in which everyone speaks GERMAN????
(Although the idea of this sounds utterly ridiculous -- in any language.)

As I am German I can summarize in a way. Its about the boxing ring which will be moved into the audience for the final fight. For that there are new premium seats called golden circle seats. People who will be sitting there, more or less all the people who sit in the area of the boxing ring, have the "privilege" to leave their seat and take a seat on the stage.
The transformation including the seat changing shall not take more than 3 minutes.

Several things :
1) Although the idea may SOUND ridiculous, you should not judge until you see and hear it. I was at the workshop, and the score happens to be excellent. There are a lot of great musicals that people thought sounded like awful ideas at the start.
2) The production is opening in Germany because the producers who are putting up the money are German.

I think "Rocky and Bullwinkle - The Musical" would have a much better chance of succeeding.
I didn't say the show was ridiculous - I thought it sounded like a ridiculous IDEA. I didn't judge anything but the idea of it. I know it MIGHT be wonderful. No need to jump to it's defense.
No one questioned why it was in Germany, just why would BWW put a non dubbed/non translated German video up. They can't imagine many of the board speaks German.
Their scores tend to sound a little "children's theater" to me, so the idea of them doing a serious musical, especially one about Rocky just sounds like an awful awful idea. But I guess we'll see?

Children's theater? Really?
Ragtime, Dessa Rose, The Glorious Ones, A Man of No Importance, My Favorite Year?
I attended the NY Pops Gala concert that paid tribute to A&F, and nothing performed there sounded like children's theater to me.
Even Seussical has wonderful layers to appeal to adults.
Guess you can count me as one of their fans. Their work really speaks to me.
I love Ahrens and Flaherty. The work is for everyone, even SEUSSICAL. It's tremendous stuff.

"Drew Sarich to Lead ROCKY Musical in Germany."
I hope he's planning to come with it to Broadway?
p.s. Can't you already hear him yelling "Adrian" after the fight?
ROCKY with Drew?
I can't say this is 100% accurate since I heard it a long time ago, but the only reason Drew was brought in to replace Andy Karl (who was by all accounts fabulous in the previous readings) is because they needed an actor who was fluent in German, as the show will be performed in German.
It will be performed in English, of course, when it comes to Broadway and it is my understanding that Drew will not be attached and that his commitment is for the German production only.

"Damn" if that's the plan.
p.s. How about if we could get him to come back to do "Streetcar" so we could hear his "Stella?"

On the one hand I'm not that upset to hear that that's the case as it means I won't have to go see Rocky. On the other hand, I'd really love to have Drew Sarich back in NY for a while, regardless of the show. Ah well!
Did anyone else find those seating directions a bit like orders?
Andy Karl is ROCKY material.
I don't see Drew in that role at all.

Am I the only one who can't help picturing the TCM promo from a few years ago where 90-year-old residents of a nursing home are presenting a live performance of Rocky?
CPD, totally agree that Andy is the best choice for Rocky on Broadway. Honestly, he is an incredibly underrated talent and I'd be so thrilled to see him finally take on an original "leading man" role. He's so earned the opportunity.
Plus...I'd sure like to see him with his shirt off some more.

There already is a Rocky & Bullwinkle musical. I've done it. It's not good.

I passed a guy on the street last night wearing a "ROCKY: DAS MUSIKAL" jacket and he was saying to the guy he was with that they're opening here in March. I had forgotten all about this show until then and I'm really surprised it's actually still happening.
Jordan, I keep hearing that it's "surprisingly good" from people who were pretty dubious based on the previous readings. I do think March is a little optimistic considering the timing of their Germany run, from what I've heard and just logistically, I imagine they will probably come in right under the Tony deadline near the end of April.
Still, not gonna lie, love the movie and watched it over and over again with my father as a kid. I'm pretty excited to see the show, no matter how it turns out.
