WTF?

Note: edited to clarify 'Georgia' rather than 'Atlanta'. Actual location is Carrollton, GA, which is about an hour outside Atlanta.

Ridiculous, but I don't understand why the text with the article says Atlanta when Atlanta is never mentioned in the story. Also, the theater listed in the article (Atlanta's Plaza) is a movie theater.

Phyllis, they have a cast (A shadow cast?) called "The Lips Down on Dixie" cast that "presides" over the evening. Maybe he saw a film of them.

Perhaps the show was shut down for being too Gerogian.

It's a slippery slope. If they allow this, what else will they start allowing?

Who approved Rocky Horror in the first place if they wanted to keep it a PG venue?

I hope they can find a private venue now. I can't imagine being told after weeks of rehearsal that the production wasn't going to be allowed to be performed.

Said this on another site but it bears repeating. If this is the stage version then shame on the town. However if it's that stupid shadow cast crap then GOOD! Someone needs to keep those shadow idiots in check.

^Both the article and the video make it clear that this is the musical, not the shadow film productions.

This kind of nonsense unnerves me, and of course it happens in a place like Georgia. Shame on this mayor for thinking he knows what the residents of his town want. Ugh. I left him a nice note on his facebook page.

This really infuriates me. Shame on the governor for thinking they should have the right to censor what the community should/ should not be exposed to.

The next time South Carolina or Texas or any of the hillbilly states threatens to secede, what say we let 'em?

(Before anyone bothers lecturing me on prejudice against the red states, I'm a born and bred Floridian. So I know whereof I speak when the subject is rednecks.)

Does anyone know the name of the community theater group in question?
I can't seem to find it.

I'd be careful about branding all of Texas as hillbilly. Don't brand an entire state, merely because of the actions of certain people. There are many people who are "non-hillbilly", but we usually get outvoted in the polls. The doofus who professed a desire to secede, Rick Perry, was blowing a lot of hot air...which he does fairly frequently. To our consternation, we have had to tolerate him for many years. from RC in Austin (Travis County) Texas....liberal oasis of Central Texas ...P.S. With regards to the controversy about Rocky Horror... no one person should censor something that others might enjoy. If they don't like "Rocky Horror", fine....don't see it. Let others make their own decision about seeing it or not.

"Noel [Coward] and I were in Paris once. Adjoining rooms, of course. One night, I felt mischievous, so I knocked on Noel's door, and he asked, 'Who is it?' I lowered my voice and said 'Hotel detective. Have you got a gentleman in your room?' He answered, 'Just a minute, I'll ask him.'" (Beatrice Lillie)

Yes, we know: Austin is full of reasonable and intelligent individuals (except in the legislature and governor's mansion).

But as ya'll like to remind us, yours is a very large state. A little pocket around Austin doesn't make up for the rest.

How does this stuff still happen in America? im sorry but for the 'leading country' etc some of things that happen there seem to borderline extreme countries or a 1940s attitude. How strange

Really this is just a sign of the time we live in. Maybe in 40 years or so (it'll be 2011 by then) we'll have loosened up a little.

"If this is going to be a Christian nation that doesn't help the poor, either we have to pretend that Jesus was just as selfish as we are, or we've got to acknowledge that He commanded us to love the poor and serve the needy without condition and then admit that we just don't want to do it." -Stephen Colbert

Well, I think the point is that people should be evaluated as individuals and not lumped together because they happen to live within a particular set of imaginary lines.

Yeah, I'd like to stick up for Dallas-Fort Worth as being a pretty liberal area as well.

In fact, if they do redistrict like they keep talking about, Texas would go back to being a blue state.
