"Actually I've heard that Izzard is busy about to start filming the second season of his series "The Riches."
Ah right... well that explains why all of his "trial standup" runs have been in LA.
Well dammit, there's even more time till the next time I get to see him gig....
Brian d'Arcy James will be here in Boston this November doing Irving Berlin's White Christmas at the Wang Center for the Performing Arts.

He's the Bloom in your Bialystock. That would be a "force" in my world.
Sorry, misspelled...

Saw the 2pm show on Saturday, it was fantastic. ALL performances were excellent and the direction outstanding. Very impressed with the understudy for Roger Bart. Lots of big laughs from the audience and people were walking out excited about the show. Just because someone is not a big name, doesn't mean they can't pull off a great peformance. Personally, I'd rather see someone young and healthy playing the lead rather than someone with a bad back who is on pain medication. This one looks like a hit!
Thanks for your thoughts Mel!

Is it possible that they would open the show without Roger?

I just found out the other day that someone I'm in a show with is the cousin of Matthew LaBanca, small world! So I'm kind of glad he's gotten the opportunity to go on. But I also hope Roger Bart has a quick recovery and will return soon.

Roger's performing his first show back right now.
I'm curious to hear how that goes.
Isn't tonight the press night? I think the plan was for him to do tonight on some heavy steroids and pain killers and then bow out for some time.
Isn't it a bit early for it to be press night? Opening night isn't for another 10 days.

There is more than one press night for Broadway shows (often as many as 4 or 5), usually beginning 7 to 10 days before opening night. Not sure how many there are for YF but they'll be starting very soon and probably last through the weekend (if not early next week).
Anyone see the performance tonight?

I did. Roger was fine, but I didn't care for the show all that much (not surprising, since I didn't like the movie). Chris Fitzgerald was AMAZING, though.

Just another two cents worth. Brooks/Strohman have gone on record as saying that they purposely did not want "name" figures attached to the show because of their experience with The Producers. No one in YF is a "name" much beyond the confines of the Tri-State area. Ergo, most out-of-towners will be buying the name of the show, not for any individual in it, no matter how talented they are. Having seen YF with the understudy, I don't think Bart's absense is going to affect the status of the show with the ticket buyers, by and large. I've seen Bart's work in the past, have thoroughly enjoyed it, but his is not a larger-than-life presence that will make or break the show. Just my thought.

It's STROMAN. Not Strohman or Stroemann or Stromann. I mean--really. If you can't spell the name of the most influential director/choreographer of the last 15 years, is anything else you have to say about her work, her cast, or her producer really that important?

True, but many people recognize Roger as "that guy from Desperate Housewives", and many know Megan as "Karen Walker". There were people who demanded a refund or exchange at the box office because they came to see Roger Bart.

Sorry Ed, I didn't mean to call you specifically out, but over the last couple of days, I've seen Susan Stroman's name misspelled over and over.
