They should get Bob Martin to step in, now that he's not in Drowsy anywhere.
rumors are going around that Eddie Izzard is in to see the show tonight and may be going into the show.
Is that a joke?
about Eddie?
not a joke
OMG I am obsessed already.
I hope Bart's back injury is not as bad as the one Richard Dreyfuss had prior to The Producers in London!
"He hurt his back ..that's why he is out...per Cast that I talked too last Saturday.. Dont know when is he coming back though "
But he'll be back just in time for opening night? Sounds fishy.
I'm loving the drama.
I hope David Yasbeck is too.
When Brooks and Stroman were auditioning actors for Dr. Frankenstein, they saw Douglas Sills. I don't know why they didn't go with him in the first place. He would have been perfection, IMO.

I got so chewed out so vociferously by commenting on this subject re: other performers and my thoughts about not showing up that I make no comment. PS: It still think it isn't fair.
The "looks young enough to be Mullally's son" stuff was just started by a disgruntled ATC poster.
Does that make it not true?

I heard that "young enough to be Mullaly's son" from friends who saw it last week (neither of whom post at ATC).
I've only heard one person make that comment. Although I'm sure people will now examples of their friend's friend or their dentist's wife saying it too. Since sometimes people just repeat things they read online until it becomes popular opinion, I'm taking the "too young" comment with a grain of salt. I haven't seen the u/s in the role. Although I have seen Mullally in her role and have said she was matronly old for the role, but it's not like she'll be replaced. hehehe
First, bad word of mouth on the street, now an injured Leading Man who may not be able to return.
Are the PIRATES working an Irish curse?
Don't forget the curse of Kathleen Freeman who still wants her Tony.

So it's OFFICIAL now !!
**********
Broadway's Young Frankenstein has been without its mad — and madly funny — scientist in recent days. A lower back problem has caused Roger Bart to miss performances of the new Mel Brooks musical at the Hilton Theatre.
A spokesman for the show confirmed that Bart — who plays Frederick Frankenstein — has missed some performances of the show since the Oct. 13 matinee.
"He is responding well to treatment and is expected to return to the show shortly," according to a statement.
Ensemble member and understudy Matthew LaBanca (making his Broadway debut) has gone on for Bart, and will continue to do so until Bart returns. No official return date has been announced.

Douglas Sills, where are you !!!????
"When Brooks and Stroman were auditioning actors for Dr. Frankenstein, they saw Douglas Sills. I don't know why they didn't go with him in the first place. He would have been perfection, IMO."
Omg, I totally agree. I could DEFINITELY see Douglas Sills.
As much as I think Douglas Sills is excellent, I doubt even he could redeem this show without a serious overhaul being done before opening.
EDDIE IZZARD!?!??! That would be awesome.
Audrey and Testing,
I'm so glad I'm not alone on that =)
Once they decided they would not be seeking "star" name, he should have been the man for the job if you ask me. (I should mention that I AM quite a fan of Mr. Bart. I just think Sills would have been a match made in heaven with this role.)
James was coming back to xanadu shortly also.
On what planet is Matthew Broderick a "force"? I can't bear to think of him shrieking "Give my creation LIIIFE!" in that horribly nasal little voice he does.
Eric McCormack, babies. Doug Sills would be good also. And I still stand by Greg Kinnear.
I believe they settled upon Bart because they wanted Raul Esparanza and he wasn't interested. I know there was at least 1 other person who turned it down as well, can't recall who that was. Roger is a great featured actor and I hope he gets well soon, but he cannot carry the show.
