Well, I really liked "Passing Strange". It was musically and lyrically challenging and the cast was superb. But I don't trust Roger Ebert. He's an anachronism of the Pauline Kael school of kamikazee film criticism and he adores almost everything the overrated Spike Lee does. I'll wait to hear from other critics or, better yet, I'll see for myself. I do hope the film does the show justice.

According to Stew at last night's Lincoln Center show, the film is scheduled to run at IFC through September 3rd, but can be extended if it does well. So everybody go, more than once!

Meh. I stand by my original comments. The show is deemed "original, unique, brilliant, a masterpiece!" by many, but I say it's just mediocre performance art. I think it is getting the praise that it does because this type of performance art is new to the many who claim it to be "original, unique, brilliant, and a masterpiece." It's new/rare for Broadway, that's for sure. But if you attend performance art pieces more regularly, you'll see that this show is just mediocre.

Don't get me wrong, it's not bad, and I liked it, but my feelings are mixed.

I love Roger Ebert but man, I couldn't disagree more. I thought this was a painful night at the theater and something I could have/should have paid $5 and a 2 drink minimum at a small club downtown. Maybe I wouldn't have minded it so much had that been the case.

I'm excited to see it! it's not my favorite CD to listen to, but there are parts of it I LOVE, and I'm curious to see more of the story and whatnot. The movie makes a nice "date" with seeing a fringe show at the Minette Lane theater, since IFC is right there.

Even if you haven't, it seems that every poster who didn't like it can't resist going out of his/her way to express their opinion over and over in every Passing Strange thread.

You guys might as well let it all out and move on. Most likely, PS fans read these threads, and we don't need your opinion again even with the "Even if I posted this before, here I go again..." disclaimer.

We know you didn't like it. Some of us did, let us enjoy the show's success- we don't go and bash shows and performers in "Love" threads, do we?
