Rosario Dawson???

i really can't talk about her ...becuz i have never seen her in any movie...but i have never seen her in any movie or anywhere pretty much before RENT...maybe she did some big blockbusters...but if they were looking for a famous name...i think there r better choices out there? is she a good singer?

I would NEVER consider her an A-list name in Hollywood. She is definitely a B-list actress.

She was in Alexander for like 5 minutes.

Well I think she has the body type for Mimi. And shes about the right age. The wuestion is if she can pull it off. I'm going for her. She's no Daphne Ruben Vega, thats for sure.

Recently she was in Sin City and actually had a singing role in Josie and the Pussycats a couple years back.

I went into the Rent movie hype expecting to hate her, as she is a 'slightly big' name. SHe won me over.
She can sing: for proof check the offical movie site and click on "music player" for clips.
She can act: See Sidewalks of New York or Sin City or Chelsea Walls for proof.

I think she is an A-list actress. When I showed the RENT trailer to my friends, the only thing they said was, "Is that ROsario Dawson. SHe's hot. Oh, so is Taye what's-his-name. Oh, Diggs!"

She's been in Alexander, Josie and the Pussycats, Men in Black II, Sin City, Shattered Glass, and a lot of other films. Maybe if the films that she's been in aren't really the types of films you like, then you may not know who she is.

I would say she's probably a B-list actress. Oh, and you can listen to her sing on the Rent movie site (there's a couple of samples). She's alright I guess, but it sounds like she trying to immitate a lot of people at once and none of them are working for her. I personally think (assuming Daphne was out) they should have gone with Karmine Alers (the current Mimi), I think she's amazing (but basically a nobody name). I guess we'll have to see about Rosario, hey, at least she looks the part...

she is most definately NOT an A-list actress. Tom Cruise, Tom Hanks, THOSE are A-list celebrities...names that are known pretty much ANYWHERE in the world. Rosario Dawson? She might be talented (I don't know, I haven't seen her in anything), she might be a sweetheart...but these qualities do not an A-lister make.

I think most people in Hollywood would call Rosario Dawson a "rising" star -- she's young and her stock in Hollywood is rising. Tom Hanks, Nicole Kidman, Angelina Jolie were all once "B" list celebrities.

Dawson was the natural choice to play Mimi, assuming they wanted a name. There aren't many Latina actresses in their early 20s who are movie stars of any grade.

^ True. EVERY review said the same thing, her voice is very small and weak.

I never associated small and weak for Mimi's voice..

But anyway. She's B-list..nothing wrong with it. None of us are trying to say we are A-list actors. But people are trying to make her out to be this Oscar winning actress who has 15 movie deals in the works.

Anyway. I wish her luck in the future.

would you mind being more specific?
she may not be an "a-list" actress to *your* way of thinking but she's most definitely on the rise and has a solid 10 year career in the business and has worked with the likes of Oliver Stone, Edward Burns, Spike Lee, Ethan Hawke, Chris Columbus among others .
sorry to break this to all of you so ready and willing to shoot her down but rosario is VERY MUCH sought after in Hollywood.
you don't know what you are talking about. i suggest you inform yourself before making ignorant comments.

Rosario may be a B-list actress, but she definetly has an A list name. Its one of those names that lots of people have heard of.

I've seen the movies she's been in and she was fine, but people have definetly heard of her.
