I originally thought that he would be a good fit at Hertz as well, but the more I think of it the more I see him as Dennis!
Oh, and Tim Curry as Hertz would be beyond AMAZING! Alan Rickman would be my second choice :-P

Tim Curry would be great, and I love Rickman, although I've never seen him do comedy.

Rickman is a hilarious and dry comedian. And as far as Will as Hertz, I simply think the role requires someone "distinguished". that is not Will. and while it is physically possible for a 43 year old to have a grown son you have to think about the entire landscape of your cast. I heard that Neil Patrick Harris was a front runner for Franz so that would make Will a rather odd choice to play his father.

OMG NPH as Franz?! That just made my day! I hope it's true!

"He isn't? I'm trying to figure out how anyone would remotely think that."

Have you seen ROA? Hertz is intimidating, foreboding, and threatening. He's the VILLAIN. At least, that's how Paul Schoeffler played him. (Don Stephenson turned him into a goof ball.)

Wouldn't it be super if Paul were cast for the film???? Haha.

And yes Jordan. If we could keep Jack Black away from this I would be happy.

I think Will Ferrell is perfect for Dennis! just imagine him in the get up and using his Robert Goulet voice!

You know who'd make a great Dennis? John C. Reilly.

I like Jack Black. The "School of Rock" trailer played while I was watching "Mean Girls" yesterday and I forgot how hilarious that film is.

Have I seen it? Well yes - quite often while it was running at my work place.

If you don't think Hertz is a funny character, then you should tell the audiences who howl at him every night. I think you may be taking the show too seriously. It's camp - all the characters are funny.

as someone who has also seen the show quite a few times, i have to agree with JP on this one. Franz... yes, funny, and I've seen audiences howl, Hertz... not as much. Well except when Don was playing him.

The character may have funny moments and make the audience laugh (in my experience, the only time this happens is during the balcony scene, when the character is drunk...) but the character of Hertz is not funny. At least not to the point where I'd ever think WILL FERREL when I watched the show. Alan Rickman, Geoffry Rush, or some other actor who can be straight laced and all imposing, yet still be funny when need be, yes.

Franz Liebkind is NOTHING like Hertz Kleinamenn.

too harsh? Okay, sorry, but I didn't want to start explaining what "camp" means, or why the character of Hertz is funny.

So, I'm sorry for phrasing it that way.

Please accept my apology.

Okay, lets forget all of my reasoning and just simply say that Will Ferrel is completely wrong for Hertz. And that's a fact.

Alan Rickman doing a German accent while singing drunkenly on a balcony? That would be priceless.

And as far as Jack Black goes, let me explain. School of Rock is a fabulous movie, true. I just think casting him as Lonny is just too easy, I'd rather they try and find somebody else that's all.

JP2 I can feel the tension all the way over here.

I'm salivating at the thought.

I completely agree. I'd love to see how creative they ca be with casting. When you see someone like Minarik or Tad Wilson in the role, you realize that it isn't just a Jack Black impression. However, I don't think I'd be too disappointed if they went with Black.

JP2 - I just want to hug you again for responding to my post.
I knew I liked you, Haha.

How about Mitch Jarvis just play Lonny so I can take him home with me, 'k? Great.
