YES.
I'm a professional. Whenever something goes wrong on stage, I know how to handle it so no one ever remembers. I flash my %#$&. "Jayne just sat there while Gina flailed around the stage like an idiot."

Will Ferrell? Count me out. It'll just be a two-hour repeat of the cowbell sketch, which was almost funny for about 60 seconds. But he certainly has mastered the art of the vacant expression.

I agree, Ferrell would be perfect for Hertz, but in a way his talent would be wasted on such a small role. I'm confident he can nail the Dennis role too.

Will is too young to play a film version of Hertz. That character is a father of a man in his own right. I think Dennis is a cool idea though. Could be a good Lonny too.

Whitney HOuston.

When I first read the thread title, because the original poster misspelled it, I was thinking Anjelica Huston and thought wtf.

Will Ferrell does a great job with funny accents for one thing. And he can play older... George Bush, Robert Goulet, high school music teacher Marty Culp, and even God, to name a few memorable characters...

You don't cast movies like a high school play. you cast old men as old men (unless they have to span a lifetime or some other heightened story device). Will is a horrible idea for Hertz. If they were smart they'd get someone cool and menacing like Alan Rickman or Geoffrey Rush.

"Um, Ferrell is god-awfully-wrong for Hertz. I'm trying to figure out what would make anybody even remotely think of Ferrell in that role?"

Um, his role as the Nazi in the Producers, for one. It shouldn't be too hard for you to figure out.

Ferrell's almost 43 in real life, and looks it, and could look older with make up if need be. Hertz in the show doesn't appear older than that anyway. How old do you think Hertz would be?

"But Hertz isn't a funny character. ."

He isn't? I'm trying to figure out how anyone would remotely think that.

Sorry about my yeah whatever post... I mean to write:

Yeah, whatever, Angela Lansbury was just three years older than Laurence Harvey, who played her son, in The Manchurian Candidate.
