Rumors are circulating the Brooks that Whitney Huston has been tapped to play Justice and Will Ferrell for Dennis the Bar Owner.
Nothing is confirmed.

Posted: 11/6/09 at 11:29amThe only thing I know about Rock of Ages is what the music is about. Is this a good part for Houston?

My first thought was "what role could Angelica Huston possibly play? And she can sing?".
Whitney HOUSTON.

Hm.. rumors. If true I'm not upset. Houston would be kinda awesome. Just glad it isn't Queen Latifah.

Posted: 11/6/09 at 3:26pmWill Ferrell? Count me out. It'll just be a two-hour repeat of the cowbell sketch, which was almost funny for about 60 seconds. But he certainly has mastered the art of the vacant expression.

Posted: 11/6/09 at 3:30pmAs long as he plays it as Dennis, and not Will Ferrel as Dennis, then it shouldn't be too bad. But yeah, not a fan. . .

Don't count on it...

Posted: 11/6/09 at 4:12pmI know. I mean the part is basically written as that unfunny moron, but I would really like to see this movie and I have a rule where I don't go see Jack Black films.

Posted: 11/6/09 at 4:53pmI was actually hoping for Will Ferrell for Hertz. Dennis is kind of a straight man for the most part, not comic.

Posted: 11/6/09 at 4:55pmI agree, Ferrell would be perfect for Hertz, but in a way his talent would be wasted on such a small role. I'm confident he can nail the Dennis role too.

Posted: 11/6/09 at 5:50pmWill is too young to play a film version of Hertz. That character is a father of a man in his own right. I think Dennis is a cool idea though. Could be a good Lonny too.

Whitney HOuston.
When I first read the thread title, because the original poster misspelled it, I was thinking Anjelica Huston and thought wtf.

Posted: 11/6/09 at 5:57pmUm, Ferrell is god-awfully-wrong for Hertz. I'm trying to figure out what would make anybody even remotely think of Ferrell in that role?

Posted: 11/6/09 at 7:37pmWill Ferrell does a great job with funny accents for one thing. And he can play older... George Bush, Robert Goulet, high school music teacher Marty Culp, and even God, to name a few memorable characters...
#18re: Rumors: Houston and Ferrell Set for ROCK OF AGES Film
Posted: 11/6/09 at 7:38pmBut Hertz isn't a funny character. . .

Posted: 11/6/09 at 9:26pmYou don't cast movies like a high school play. you cast old men as old men (unless they have to span a lifetime or some other heightened story device). Will is a horrible idea for Hertz. If they were smart they'd get someone cool and menacing like Alan Rickman or Geoffrey Rush.

^Those are excellent choices.
Personally, I'd love for Tim Curry to come out from wherever he's hiding and play Hertz.

Um, his role as the Nazi in the Producers, for one. It shouldn't be too hard for you to figure out.

"Will is too young to play a film version of Hertz. That character is a father of a man in his own right."
Ferrell's almost 43 in real life, and looks it, and could look older with make up if need be. Hertz in the show doesn't appear older than that anyway. How old do you think Hertz would be?
"But Hertz isn't a funny character. ."
He isn't? I'm trying to figure out how anyone would remotely think that.

Sorry about my yeah whatever post... I mean to write:
Yeah, whatever, Angela Lansbury was just three years older than Laurence Harvey, who played her son, in The Manchurian Candidate.
