I did a search and didn't see anything posted about this...
I would love this
HOLY CRAPOLA!
I love Ruthless! I can't see it on bway though.
But I would love if it gave it a shot.

I don't see Biel as the mother of a 9 or 10 year old.
Well...she's nearly 30 -- so not impossible at all.
I do. She has that 'knocked up right out of high school' kind of look.
Yet, it's ok for a 62yo to be the mother of a 12yo girl in the old age?
I agree with B3 Haha
Muscle -- what does that even mean?
There are PLENTY of 30 year olds with 9 or 10 year old kids. Sadly, there are lots younger that do, too.

I'm assuming Muscle is referring to either Bernadette, who is 62, playing a character who has a 14 year old daughter. Either that or Patti, who was pushing 60 when Gypsy opened, having daughters who were both supposed to be under 10 years old at the beginning of the show. I'm guessing he was trying to point out the hypocrisy of saying how somebody can't see a 30 year old having a 9 or 10 year old daughter, yet we seem to accept that some of these older actresses are playing characters with children that they would most likely have not have been able to conceive in real life given their respective ages.

wow. really?
Um....hate to tell him/you....it's not anywhere beyond the realm of possibility for a woman in her late 40s/early 50s to have kids. (Which would make her early to mid 60s 14 years later.) Trust me, I'm 47 and still have to be conscientous to NOT have more kids. And according to the doctor: I'll probably have to do so for as many as another TEN years.
I know a good number of women that started having kids in their 40's. Funny how society has changed the perception. In fact, women in their later child bearing years are actually more likely to have a MULTIPLE birth.
But thanks for clarifying his post.

Wow, congrats on your ultra-fertility, dramamama, lol!
Let's face it though. I don't know what the actual numbers or statistics are, but even in today's society a woman in her mid to late 40s having a child is still seen as far more the exception to the rule rather than the norm.
Joan Ryan should play it again.
Period.
I was just reading about the original New York production on wikipedia and I noticed Marvin Laird did not receive a Drama Desk nomination for his music although Joel Paley not only got one for his lyrics, but won.
Isn't that odd? Has that ever happened before?
From Wiki:
Drama Desk Awards:
Laura Bundy -- Outstanding Actress - Musical (nominee)
Donna English -- Outstanding Actress - Musical (nominee)
Joel Paley -- Outstanding Director - Musical (nominee)
Joel Paley -- Outstanding Lyrics (winner)
"Ruthless" -- Outstanding Musical (nominee)

what makes anyone think Jessica Biel has the comedic chops for this role?!
no offense to her, she's a great actress, and very beautiful, but I definitely do not see her doing such a slapstick show.
Two words: Missi Pyle.
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
That would be all kinds of brilliant!
"wow. really?"
Yep. I think it's because I always connect her with her role on 7th Heaven, and I always expected that character to get pregnant..............but then God would save her
comedy doesn't come to mind when i think of Jessica Biel. then again, neither does good acting. oh well.
i second everthing dramamama611 said. my mom was 45 when she had me and that was 30(ish) years ago.
Jessica Biel is in no way involved with the reading taking place this month.
I swear- sometimes, Broadway World will use anything to generate a story.
