Why isn't Sam Rockwell a star?? I mean a huge star? He is just superb in Fool For Love. I love all his film work and remember him from years ago in Human Remains I think was the title? When you see actors like Jeremy Renner and Christian Bale being praised for their "edge" and then you see the real thing with Rockwell. Now there is an actor!!

I could not agree with you more, but I get the impression he doesn't want to be any more of a "star" than he is. He seems to be a low-key person.
I love his work in '7 Psychopaths'- subtle, funny, human and dark.

And he's so good in THE WAY, WAY BACK. He does lovable and monstrous equally effectively in his various roles. Really wish I could get to Williamstown this summer but unfortunately it looks like that will not happen.

His performance in THE WAY WAY BACK is one of my favorite recent performances. He should have been nominated for major awards.
Perhaps the best question I've heard on bww ever. I've heard it asked before on another site and someone said because he wasn't hot enough, to which I responded "you can't be serious!"
My own feeling is that he's someone playing the long game, a great and highly acclaimed actor's actor who will have a very long career filled with good and important work and the great respect of the industry. The male Toni Collette.

I had the great pleasure of working the house for a show he did regionally years ago. He was not only amazing with what seemed like boundless energy, but a very nice, down to earth guy. I really wish I could've seen him and Arianda on stage together. They are both very charismatic performers and I can only imagine the energy on that stage between them.
Terrific in Behanding.
Also the only thing I remember about Iron Man 2.
He certainly is one of our finest working actors. But don't feel too bad for him. He's had a fantastic career working pretty much consistently in a wide variety of indie films, blockbusters and theatre. He seems very satisfied with his career:
“I think mainstream success can kind of eclipse the idea of what success is,” Rockwell adds. “I think success is whatever fulfills you. I think a lot of that work has been seen, and it’s good… You kno
Every time I see him in a movie, I am blown away. I'd love to see him on stage.
I said it in my review of Fool for Love, but if they ever get a production of Tracy Letts' "Killer Joe" on B'way he would be perfect as Joe.
Two words:
"Galaxy Quest"
Seems like he's on the Gary Oldman career path.
I loved "The Way, Way Back". Such a great movie that everyone should see IMO
Loved him in Lawn Dogs and Hitchhiker's Guide.
He was magnificent in The Way, Way Back (which is a criminally underrated movie). I hope this production comes to New York with him and Nina Arianda, both of them are such dynamic performers and I would love to see them playing off each other onstage.
He's an incredibly gifted actor. I mean, "Snow Angels", "Moon", "Confessions of a Dangerous Mind", "Seven Psychopaths", "Matchstick Men"... all tremendous work.

Moon was amazing and he was so good in it. It was basically a one man film.
We are all forgetting Ninja Turtles. The first one.

He was brilliant in 'The Way, Way, Back'. I wish both him and that film at least got Golden Globe nominations.
How could I forget Moon?!?! A surprisingly brilliant film.
I love him. He's in the new Poltergeist reboot, set to come out in Feb of next year. I'm very excited for it. I don't think he would do a remake/reboot of this franchise unless the script was good.
