Odd choice of numbers ( the 3 princesses ) but i guess they were going for the kid sell. Dull - boring song. Perhaps I missed something earlier in the Broadcast, but why wouldn't they show something with SHREK himself?
I realize they did a behind the scenes with brian yesterday, but a number featuring him would certainly help sell more tickets than what they showed today.

I disagree. I saw the show last week and this was one of my favorite numbers. It was weirdly cut or changed somehow on the Today show, because it's a bit differnet on stage, and they have a big castle they walk around.
I love this show.

I Know It's Today? I LOVE that song--one of my favorites from the show! Can't wait to see video!
I checked out the Today Show site and there doesn't appear to be a video up of the performance yet, though other videos from today are up already. Hmm...

I'm pretty sure there were cuts made for the Today Show. Also, the spinning tower makes the aging effect of the 3 Fiona's more interesting.

Definitely cuts. They cut the two younger Fiona's verses, but left Sutton's whole. Probably cut for time to cram in interviews and more commercials.
Interesting set. I was a little distracted by the fact I could see people walking through the green "walls" :).
I kind of liked that... very stereoptypical Disney-esque number, and then Sutton Foster came out, and it was like, "Wait... the princess isn't supposed to do that, is she?"
I did feel like it'd be better if they had a song with Shrek or one of the other characters, too, but this song is pretty. And the little Fiona is so adorable.
Well considering that Shrek takes 1.5 hours to create, we won't see Brian doing live performances. Which brings me to the TONYS, if they get a nod for musical will their performance be pre-recorded?
im dying to see the show now...argg..i need tickets!

I hadn't thought of that...if they did perform live would Brian attend the ceremony as Shrek? Unless they had a performance at the very end and he walks the Red Carpet and then gets into costume. Or perhaps would they do another song, such as "I Know It's Today" or one of Farqaad's numbers.
It will be interesting to see how this plays out. I'm sure he's a lock for a nomination. He's fantastic in the role. I bet they'll get a Best Musical nomination, just by process of elimination. I bet if they perform early in the broadcast he could easily strip his makeup to be in formal wear for his award which typically takes place later in the show.
Don't shoot me, but I thought it was actually pretty good, and really fun! That TV spot was so cute, and I may actually go see it.
No offense to Rachel, but I'm VERY glad they used Leah for this.

I assume you've seen them both, jordangirl? How do they differ?
I thought they were using Leah for pretty everything press related.

Tonys: i do think so when Lion King did it with full makeup twice it was not prerecorded
Lion King just has some makeup. Brian has to go through an 1.5 hours of putting on latex to go on.

That was delightful.
It was also great to see how the "magic mirror" works, I assumed it was pretaped! But no! It's actual real-time motion capture backstage.
I loved the performance and the interview afterwards. The three of them sang well together. My feeling is that all three fionas will sing this song agagin if they are up for best new musical. i hope they use the two young fionas with melissa and sutton. i got to say sutton is great with them, melissa is very well spoken, and leah seemed shy, i am happy they let leah sing young fionas part. it will def be 9 to 5, shrek, and billy elliot so far for best new musical.

Idina Menzel took more than an hour to be greenified and she did a live performance.
Idina said that it took 15 minutes to get the green on.
well, aren't I misinformed. LOL I must be getting my elaborate costumes confused.
Terrance Mann's Beast makeup took I believe 3 hours. His beast section on the TONYS was pre-recorded.
The number was cute.
Also: I love Sutton Foster. What a talented, down to earth, beautiful woman.
