Not unexpected.
Congrats to him, though! :) I actually like his voice better than Brian's.
Anybody heard any rumors on who will be replacing Sutton? I know Sarah Jane Everman is the first Fiona cover, but I like Haven Burton, the second, in the role much more.

Burton has actually gone on more than Everman. I think they try to rotate in that role, though.

Darn, I thought this was about Michael Crawford joining (well, when I saw the actual headline that said Crawford joins...)

Congratulations to Ben! He has a great voice. I was kind of hoping for another big Broadway name as Shrek, but this guy deserves it.

When I saw the show in April, Haven went on for Sutton. I thought she did a great job!

I also think it's great it extended through May 2010, it must mean that producers have faith in the show. I am very happy for Shrek and Ben Crawford!

Haven Burton really needs a principal role of her own on Broadway.
I've somehow seen her go on for the leads she's covered in RENT, LEGALLY BLONDE, and SHREK and found her to be stronger than the principal actress she was on for every single time (though she practically steals the show in her ensemble track in SHREK to begin with.)
Here's hoping she gets promoted to fill Sutton Foster's shoes come November.

Tonya Pinkins: Then we had a "Lot's Wife" last June that was my personal favorite. I'm still trying to get them to let me sing it at some performance where we get to sing an excerpt that's gone.

I am very excited. Ben was AMAZING when I saw him. If Haven takes over for Fiona, I will seriously see this show once a month. Haven has such a talent and she hasn't been put into a production where she stands out until Shrek(her Gingy is amazing). Hopefully an announcement will come soon for Sutton.

I must say that I was home for the weekend a couple of months back when it was announced that Haven was going to be on while Sutton was on vacation. I must say that I loved her in the role and I do hope that they bump her up. She does deserve it.

I have yet to see Ben as Shrek beyond the video of him singing "Build A Wall" from At This Performance, but I loved that!
I've seen Haven as Fiona and while I loved Sutton, I thoroughly and completely enjoyed Haven! If she took over, I'd be so happy.
And if Ryan Duncan took over for Daniel, I'd be over the moon.

Haven replaced Annaleigh Ashford as Margot in "Legally Blonde." She played the role from September 24, 2007 through May 13, 2008 even though it was not the biggest role.

^ I think that poster meant like originate her own role and not replace actresses.

Congratulations to Ben. I was able to see him as Shrek in April I think and I thought he was fantastic. I enjoyed his voice and performance a lot more then Brian's.

Congrats to Ben! And congrats to the show for extending to May 2010. Does this 100% guarantee that it will stay open that long, or could it still close before then?

If Haven takes over I will be ecstatic! I love her, I haven't gotten to see her in any principal roles! But of what I have heard her sing she is incredible.

Haven Burton as Fiona would be the only thing to get me back to Shrek. I saw her in Legally Blonde, and she was by far the best Elle I ever saw (having seen LBB, Bailey, Becky, and Kate Rockwell). The footage of her as Fiona on that site is great. I hope she takes over.

Haven as Fiona PLEASE. She actually adds something to the role.

Just saw the show tonight. Sutton is still decent, but watching what I've seen of Haven--WOW--she's VERY talented! Definitely hoping she takes over for Sutton! And her Gingy was wonderful tonight as it was the last 2 times I saw the show :).

Add me to the list of Haven fans. I saw Haven perform twice (Legally Blonde and Rent). She has a great voice. I would love to see her take over for Sutton.

Someone I know who's close to Sutton says that she just extended her contract though January. It's nice that she'll get to play Fiona through the holdiays again.
