re: So much for my lucky Wicked lotto streak...

Today's lotto update: just as crowded as yesterday. Maybe slightly less, they didn't have to start the lotto late or anything today, but we're talking like 40 people less than a high of 400 or so people- still totally insane. And the Pantages staff is on that this-show-is-almost-over high, they're taking pictures of the lotto crowd and making the crowd practice their screaming and such before the lotto starts. Hey, whatever gets you through the day.

but mostly I wanted to post for this, overheard in the L.A. Wicked lotto line today:
Man 1: That's ok, if I don't get a chance to see it here I'll just see it in New York.
Man 2: Oh, New York, is that where this tour is headed next?

:)

I took the liberty of quickly photoshopping your avatar to include "half a dozen times"...

Feel free to use it if you'd like.

If you do like it and want the orange background changed, I could probably work on it a little more - I just didn't want to spend the time and then have it not be used.

Wow, there were that many people there today? Sounds like I might be skipping the lottery attempt on the weekend and waiting to see it in New York.

I might be overestimating a bit- it's at least 300 people, that's for sure, but they could be short of 400. They don't even make an attempt to keep sidewalks and doorways clear anymore, there's just people everywhere.

After yesterday's lotto Stephanie ditched the crowd by ducking in the Pantages lobby doors, that's how crowded it was- she didn't even try to make it out and around to the stage door or wherever she usually heads...

OH DEAR LORD! LOL You guys are too much. That's really cool of you guys but I'll stick with the one I have for now. I'll update you on the count after this weekend and when it's all packed up and on it's way up north I'll consider changing it.

How does this excitement for this show get such a horrible review from the LA Times? Are we misguided fools? Or are the theater critics from the paper out of their minds? Someone give me clarity in this area...please.

re: So much for my lucky Wicked lotto streak...

The LA Times has been known to have some pretty strange reviews. They loved a show called Bark that was the dumbest thing I have ever seen. They somehow think everything has to have some unique, thoughtful edge to it, something quirky . . .

They loved the first act of Apollo at the Kirk Douglas, and hated the second, I hated the second, and liked the first . . .

Even their movie reviews are full of self-importance and are usually off-the-mark.

Wicked is just a fun musical, without a lot of deep meaning. (There is some, but if you look too hard, you become that nutty critic of the tour in Chicago.)

Take it at face value and enjoy.

k.... just wondering... I am in love w/musical theatre but (don't freak out everyone) I have actually never been to a live broadway (or tour) show ever!!! So.... a very stupid qusetion I am sure... but what exactly is the lotto and how exactly does it work??? (okay .... laugh now)

I am going to my first show ever in August... *WICKED* in San Francisco!!!! I am so excited!!! And whatever this lotto thing is... somebody tell me how to win so I can have an even better experience!!! lol
thanx for not thinking i am retarded!

Mad4...the lottery is not very tricky. Simply be at the theater 2 and half hours before curtain with your ID and about $50 cash. The rest will be explained to you when you get there. Good luck.

re: So much for my lucky Wicked lotto streak...

thanx!

that clears up a lot.

Just wondering... do they sell the lotto tickets to minors? (People under 18 who still have valid ID?)

re: So much for my lucky Wicked lotto streak...

Yeah I guess if you don't have a nifty tv credit to put in the parenthesis after your name they just move on and list the next person in the cast. :)

m4m: the only rule I've ever seen in the L.A. lotto re: minors is that if you're over 18 you need an id, but if you're under 18 you need to be able to write your own name. (and yes, I did see them once reject mom and dad from getting a lotto entry to write 6 month old baby's name on).

re: So much for my lucky Wicked lotto streak...

not I. I've seen two Nessarose u/s, Lori Holmes and Maria Eberline. Thought Lori Holmes f'n *rocked*- her "Wicked Witch of the East" seriously gave me chills. Enjoyed Maria more as Elphaba than as Nessa.

(ps- when did Erin Davie join the tour? I just tried looking her up in my Playbill and can't find her. Unless I'm just lame like that.)

re: So much for my lucky Wicked lotto streak...

Well I am not sure when she joined. Not to long ago I think. She is on the website. She is a good friend of mine. I just wondered if anyone has seen her go on. She has a great voice. She was Emma in "Jekyll & Hyde" with me.

re: So much for my lucky Wicked lotto streak...

Well, I had my first Wicked lottery experience tonight in LA and obviously, I didn't win as it's 6:43. :)

I would say there were likely about 250 people there tonight.

We haven't decided if we are going to try for tomorrow yet or not.

I am leaning towards yes. So, if me AND my wife win, some luck BroadwayWorld.com poster could luck out. re: So much for my lucky Wicked lotto streak...
