Isn't Dracula the first show of the (Tony) season...that's what someone said (maybe Hewitt - don't quote me on that) in an interview.
Meh, not like it matters. neither show will be getting a nom.

Posted: 3/17/05 at 7:45pmMy goodness, it's the end of days, for sure. DAWG and I agree. Ramirez is a doll. I still think it speaks volumes about the men and the direction, if Ramirez "steals" this show. It just shouldn't happen. And the reason I think Orfeh would be great, besides the "redundancy" of the site gag is that she's damn funny. She and Raimirez both stole my heart as well as made me clutch my sides, in Facinating Rhythm. You're right, Bean has the chops, but is rather humourless.

Posted: 3/17/05 at 7:47pmI don't know if you are only referring to musicals that are eligible, but Sight Unseen, which opened May 25, 2004, was the first Broadway show of the 2004-2005 season.

I think the ATC poster was just talking about "DRS" and "SPAM" and not all of the shows (although I absolutely agree with what you are saying, Munk)--- the order should have no bearing on the reviews... BUT... given the fact that these two shows were the ones that everyone thought would be competing with each other as far as box office and awards, ya never know. Maybe if "DRS" opened right after "Spam" the reviews might have been better.
Not that it matters to me.. "DRS" far superior in my opinion.

What will happen next? Carrafa getting a director nod for Good Vibrations? Al-I never thought I'd say this but in this particular instance, you've got some great taste. And we must have met each other before since we were apparently the only two people who went to see Fascinating Rhythm.
Orfeh is wonderful and brilliantly funny and she'll get her killer role, I'm certain. And Sara makes me giddy everytime I see her onstage. Pardon the pun, but she's a true "Class Act."

Dear Mr. DAWG, this is Al's friend Kal, and I am typing you this message due to the fact that Mr. Dente has just passed out from shock
re: Newsday Spamalot Review Up!#57
Posted: 3/17/05 at 7:58pmFrom shock? I don't understand where either of you are coming from.......

"Fine. Critics see the show and review it the week of opening night, typically the night or 2 before so they have time to think about it and write their review on time for opening night. Opening night is just a night for people incolved with the show, and their families and friends. The reviews are already out usually, as the opening curtain rises."
That is what I assumed. Thank you for explaining...if I had read it somewhere before, I would have not asked.

Posted: 3/17/05 at 8:02pmMunk, DAWG and I have a very, how shall I put this, controversial board past. This thread has just brought peace and warm and fuzzy new found feelings between us as we are now in our own personal mutual admiration society.

Munk-you also don't understand the sense of humor it would take for one to comprehend Spamalot...
but in all seriousness...Al and I have had a lifelong "misunderstanding" of one another, so an agreement (that I believe has happened one time before) is a rare occassion usually preminiscient of the apocalypse.

Posted: 3/17/05 at 8:10pmExactly, but so as not to threadjack and get back to the topic at hand, I am very curious to see what Brantley has to say, if for no other reason but too see how far he either raves or slams as I don't think it will be in between at all...just a hunch.

Dawg - What the hell are you talking about?

Brantley might be on the second night list for press.... though one would assume he's on the first night list. (there are typically 2 press performances pre opening and 2 post opening)
Assuming the show started on time (which I'm doubting) it should let out in about 15 minutes... I'm guessing it'll be more like half an hour before it's over though.

I know.... I clearly fail for not being there tonight.
The truth of the matter is, I couldn't get out of work on time to make it. And no, I won't be going to the party either...... I have to be at my office far too early in the morning. I will, however, be hearing all about it from my friend, tomorrow.
And I think that's as good as it's gonna get haha
