SPIDER-MAN Canceled Tonite (Sat 11/27)

The invited dress has been canceled tonight. SPIDER-MAN Canceled Tonite (Sat 11/27)

They are still selling tickets for the first paid preview performance for tomorrow, but only have less than 10 seats left.
"The Spectacle has, indeed, an emotional attraction of its own, but, of all the parts, it is the least artistic, and connected least with the art of poetry. For the power of Tragedy, we may be sure, is felt even apart from representation and actors. Besides, the production of spectacular effects depends more on the art of the stage machinist than on that of the poet."

This will not be the first cancelation. Fasten your seat belts, it's gonna be a bumpy ride!

I do not know their plans.

However, if I were producing the show, and performances have been delayed as much as they have been, and it's gotten all the negative buzz that it has received regarding the management of the show, and it was the laughing stock of the industry...

...AND we're SO close to being ready for a preview performance of the show, but just need a LITTLE bit more time...

... THEN what *I* would do is inform the audience tomorrow night that they will more than likely NOT finish the performance, and if they choose to stay, then they may not a) be able to see the entire show, including the last half of ACT II, and b) be able to see all of the flying stunts planned to be performed in the show.

This way, you please the immediate audience in giving them the option to either exchange their ticket to a later preview or stay for the night and be forewarned that they may not see a complete show. And then that audience gets to go onto BWW, ALL THAT CHAT, FACEBOOK, TWITTER, etc. and tell all their friends how much they enjoyed the music and performances, how awestruck they were of the flying effects and production values, and how much of a technical mess it was.

I can't lie. I have a morbid desire to go tomorrow (I see two seats left), but I'm actually seeing it next Saturday. Going tomorrow would be fascinating, but if I hate it, it will just be hideous sitting through it a second time six days later. And yet...

What I wouldn't give to buy a ticket, come to New York, and see it tomorrow just for the experience and the possibility of saying that I was in the first paying audience who saw Spider-Man (Good or bad). It'd give me a bounce in my step for years.

Wow, it's not like this is a surprise, but it's still pretty crazy. Tomorrow evening will certainly be an experience, that's for darn sure.

is "flying circle" a nice word for "you might get hit by a flying dancer"?
"Grease," the fourth revival of the season, is the worst show in the history of theater and represents an unparalleled assault on Western civilization and its values. - Michael Reidel

Capn, from what I understand, a lot of the people attending the first preview have already exchanged their tickets from original performance dates.

I've been debating trying to go tomorrow as well. I'm going to play it by ear in the morning.

Yes but as experienced by the Women on the Verge thread, audiences can't be given a "please forgive us" speech and then be kind or accommodating. The people at that invited dress would blow up blogs, BWW and other places talking trash. Maybe they just needed another night to iron out some stuff.
