No, word from Cumming isn't enough. I'm talking official word. I'm thinking of the people that KEEP buying tickets, as well as the folks that have already purchased tickets...and many of them likely have also spent money on hotels and travel plans. Hotels reswervd through online discount sites are PRE-paid.
Rumours and lunacy aside, does anyone suppose this might have anything to do with anything?

Interesting development, but the "Spider-Man" musical delay has supposedly been caused by the producers having difficulty raising enough to capitalize the show.
Interestingly, Spider-Man 4, the movie, has also been delayed as the studio is unhappy with the script.
Tough time to be Spidey.
Who else thinks Alan Cumming is going to be in a whole mess of trouble with the prodcuers? This sounds like something said off the cuff.
Unless he was told NOT to speak about it, he won't be in any real trouble. And since he was BEING interviewed for the Times, I'm sure it was in direct response to a direct question. However, this does make you wonder if he will have gotten the producers in trouble since they are still allowing tix to be sold.
This entire scenario is just ridiculous. I want this thing to open just to see what all the fuss is about.
I wonder something, are there any shows out there that look like they can fit into The Hilton? I mean, couldn't Live Nation say to the producers that enough is enough with the whole stopping and starting of Spider-Man that they want them out so that they can bring in another show, one that will actually perform and bring in money for them?
I believe that as long as SPIDER-MAN is in the Hilton doing work (which supposedly is still happening here and there), Live Nation gets money. The producers are still using the theater, so they still have to pay rent, whether they are in performances or not.
In short, Live Nation doesn't care if the show ever opens, because either way they get their rent.
If I'm wrong, someone please correct me, but I am pretty sure that is how it works.

There is now way performances can begin in Feb. There is no work currently going on at the theater. So far all they have done is take out some box seats, there is no deck and no set.
There is definitely at least some work going on, because I see disheveled-looking men going into and out of the theatre all the time.
Either that, or it's become a crack house after a year of abandonment. Which is probabely just as likely...

According to the "house sound man" they stopped all work pertaining to Spiderman, There could be theater restoration work being done, but nothing on "spiderman." You may know more than the Sound man for the Hilton, who in essence is also the sound man for Spiderman.

Tami-- Although the additional information is nice, I don't think it's a correct assumption to make that the theatre's sound guy is necessarily the show's sound guy. Most productions come complete with their own creative teams.
FWC is taking over the Hilton, opening in April just in time for Tony cut-off.
You heard it here.

Yes they do, he is the house guy and the people who come in with the show is the Road Guy. every theater or "house" sound guy who is hired by the theater and stays with the same theater. Then there are the stage hands, and sound guys that come with the production, the road guys.

It isn't. The theater gets a base rent yes, but once a show opens, the theater also gets a % of ticket revenue. Further, the theater usually keeps concession sales (not merchandise, just food/bev), whihc can be another significant source of revenue.
Believe me, they want a show running, not setting up/renovating
Ah, thanks. Man, is that going to be a bomb if it opens in the Hilton.

That's a good point, and I thought about that, but I can't imagine there are any shows chomping at the bit to get into the Hilton. While Live Nation would make more money from a running show, they don't make anything at all from no show. Kicking a show out for the possiblity of a new show seems like a bit of a gamble to me.

Dang! I was hoping A Very Potter Musical would go in the Hilton.
on-off-on-off
I expect this opening to be canceled & reinstated a good 3-4 times before it actually opens.
