Posted: 9/7/11 at 6:33pmMy TDF seat was in either the second to last or third to last row of the orch (I think it was second, and the row behind was TDF too). This was a Sunday in June. For whatever that's worth.

Posted: 9/7/11 at 6:34pmAs an added "bonus", for a bunch of those matinee performances you'll get to see 40 year old Matt Caplan play 17 year old Peter Parker!

Posted: 9/7/11 at 8:02pmWhat happened to Matthew James Thomas? And I was thinking about this the other day...Jenn is 19 almost 20 and Matt is 40 hahahahahaha..She probably saw him when she was young and he was in Rent lmfao

Posted: 9/7/11 at 8:06pmMatthew James Thomas is still in the show as an alternate (last I checked). He still plays Wednesday and Saturday matinees. Matt Caplan is Reeve's regular understudy.

Posted: 9/7/11 at 11:59pmI have no idea about the regular alternate, but Matt Caplan posted on his facebook he was doing 4 of the 5 Wednesday matinees (as Peter Parker) during the month of September.

I already saw Matthew James Thomas and would like to catch Reeves. Is there any way to find out in advance what days Carney will be out of the show, while he is filming for Jeff Buckley. Do they post a schedule anywhere? Thanks

Saw in last night on TDF just to say that I saw it.
When theater historians discuss what was awful, years from now, I can say I saw the show.
seats were f30in the mezz, they were fine.

Posted: 9/8/11 at 9:31pmDo you guys really think that this show will be closing anytime soon? It is making a lot of money and is the third highest grossing show on Broadway at the moment, so I feel like there is still a lot of tourist money life that can be sucked out of it...

Posted: 9/8/11 at 10:06pmMatt was 18 or 19 when he first joined the Rent tour, so... nope, not 40!

It'd be interesting to hear how many of you who continuously bash the show have ever even seen it? Do you have nothing better to do with your lives than say negative things about this amazing experience. Sure, it's not the greatest storyline on b-way but it's the spectacle which is worth seeing. losers.

That would be interesting! I'll start!
I don't continuously bash the show, but I have seen it. I do have better things to do with my life than say negative things about a musical so poorly written and sloppily constructed that no amount of spectacle can make it not one of the most boring things I ever sat through in a theater -- the spectacle on display in SM:TOtD, by the way: also terrible -- but you asked.
I'll never understand the logic that spectacle is an acceptable substitute for content. It doesn't work for "Avatar," it doesn't work for Lady Gaga, it doesn't work for Michele Bachmann, and it doesn't work for this.
As the late, great Ellen DeGeneres sighed, "Anyway..."

What do you mean it doesn't work for Lady GaGa? She's the most famous pop star out there right now.
and as for the spectacle in Spider-man.. wouldn't you rather spend money on Spider-Man than on some lame reading of some boring play that you'll probably sleep through and never remember?

Popularity is not an indicator of quality, and I happen to think that Lady Gaga is all flash and no content. That is -- it should go without saying -- only my opinion.
I'd rather not spend my money on either of those things. Why on earth would give me two horrible options? Here -- do you want a drink this cat pee or this rotten milk?
"Gee... umm... the -- the cat pee, I guess. Wait. No. the rotten milk. No. Wait. Ugh... this is difficult..."
I don't know which I'd rather spend money on. I'd have to watch the play to see just how bad it is, I guess.
On the other hand, you do propose the idea of nap there, which is slightly more attractive than the time I spent being awake during SPIDER-MAN.

Posted: 9/9/11 at 7:46pmIt did work for Avatar, and it also works for Lady Gaga. Maybe if you stepped out of your narrow-minded head to actually take in the messages behind Avatar and Lady Gaga's lyrics then you would stop spitting out your unwelcome opinions. Didn't anyone eve teach you...if you have nothing nice to say, don't say anything at all. Duh.

Posted: 9/9/11 at 7:50pmLast time I checked it's not "Narrow-minded' to not like GaGa's lyrics or to not like this show. It's OPINION! And a majority of opinion's on these boards say "poo" on Spidey. And it seems like that opinion is quickly growing on potential audience members.

Posted: 9/9/11 at 8:05pmBoring is the last word I would use to describe Spider-Man. I was surprised by how much I enjoyed it, and I honestly did not think it was bad at all. I loved the music, the story, and the special effects were incredible. Probably the most visually stunning show I have seen. That's just my opinion though. If you don't like the music, then I can see how that would ruin the show for you though. I only saw 2.0 by the way.

Posted: 9/9/11 at 8:21pmI do not know the economics of running a Broadway show, but if a show costs $70m to put on and $1.2m a week to operate, so if the show is available on the TKTS on a Saturday night for 50% off, would that be a fair indicator that the show is a flop and is very possible it could close, with complete loss of the initial investment?

Posted: 9/10/11 at 2:38pmJason8, FWIW, I've seen the show twice. I was more sad than anything else. The first time I saw it, it was an incredibly entertaining trainwreck. The second time I saw it, it was an incredibly boring trainwreck.

I was the first to say something negative here: I saw it. I hated it. Yes, HATED it. I WANTED to like it, I wanted it to be worth the near 100 million dollar investment that it took to FINALLY open it. But it wasn't.
You are entitled to your opinion, but how does the fact that some of us here don't share that same opinion affect what you think. No one attacked your opinion, so don't attack ours.

Saw the show today and really enjoyed it. Parts of it were messy, but overall I thought it was very solid entertainment.
My seat was in row X of the orchestra on the side. Totally fine view.
And yes, they did stop the show. Before the big climatic fight.
