Yes, I know it is already in another thread, but it is hidden and I thought I would bring the news right out into the open. For those who haven't heard, Sutton Foster's last performance is on April 15th, and Janine LaManna will play Janet for 3 months, and Mara Davi will be the next long term replacement. Very exciting! Can't wait.

Who Else is gonna gonna go back to see it :)

What does the fact that you think Mara's a deer in headlights have anything to do with her ability to perform the role? Her voice is amazing, she's talented, and that's what counts.

You could think someone looks like a drowned rat, but that doesn't mean they can't do your taxes.

she ACTS like a deer in headlights....not funny. not coy...she can sing, that 's about it. I just think that was a wrong choice.

I agree jenna should be the full time role. and more age appropriate.

this is so exciting! i absolutely love mara, it's so incredible for her to get this part, she is perfect for it! i hope she's still in it in spring 2008 (when I'm going)

How can someone ACT like a deer in headlights? That really doesn't make sense. When one compares someone to a deer in headlights, they are usually refering to the way they look, and in that case I think that is a ridiculous statement. I saw Mara in ACL and thought she was great, never once did she remind me of a deer in headlights. I think that she would do a wonderful job as Janet, I was just hoping she would take on a bigger role in perhaps a new show.

if I need to spell it out for you. SHe can't act. she has the same look on her face through the whole show. A big wide eyed look . she has no sense of rythem or timing, beats...etc. yes she hits a great big ol note in "at the ballet" and then everyone thinks she is amazing. well, I think her lack of ability will shine through in this role. she is pretty and can sing...that's about it. Janine will kill it.

I just think there were several other choices for Janet. I guess it doesn't really matter, it's kind of a nothing part. The chaperone FAR over shadows anything that any janet could ever do.

Actually, Mara is Janine LaManna's replacement. Sutton's replacement is Janine.

Apparently several people disagree with you, including the casting directors of ACL afterall they picked her out of thousands of girls. Maggie, is a pretty small and easy role to play, I don't know what you were expecting. Funny how every role she has played required extensive dancing, which would be hard for someone without rythem.

I have seen Mara in several different performances here in CA and think she is awesome. I think your judgments are pretty harsh, considering that you have only seen her in one insignificate role.

I know she will be great in the part of Janet, and I hope she moves on to bigger and better things in the future.

Mercades, I can assure you that Davi is more than capable of handling the role. The fact that they cast a temporary replacement in order to wait for Mara to get out of her contract in another show speaks for the producers confidence in her abilities.

I am a bit more skeptical about Janine LaManna, though. Janet is the ultimate ingenue, and LaManna looks anything but that type of character (although a friend of mine in casting insists her audition was spectacular.)

Worley's casting is a bit suprising too (as she seems better suited for the Beth Leavel part,) but I'm sure we'll be pleasently suprised.

what? rythem in acting? MAGGIE? i can undersand if Mara was playing a comedic role that required timing, but she is playing MAGGIE in ACL!!!!! sorry, no offense, but i don't think you know what you are talking about. Maggie is such a small part, with hardly any effect on the show, and does not require any "timing" when it comes to acting.
