In November, DRG will reissue the 1986 Broadway revival cast album of SWEET CHARITY starring Debbie Allen and Michael Rupert.
Originally issued by EMI in 1986, the disc was deleted in 1988 and has since become a very expensive and hadr-to-find item.
DRG currently as the new Broadway cast in their catalogue. ALso available are the 1966 OBC (Sony/Columbia Broadway) and the 1969 movie soundtrack (Decca.) Sony UK had the original London cast with juliet Prowse at one time but it has been deleted.
Cast albums are NOT "soundtracks."
Live theatre does not use a "soundtrack." If it did, it wouldn't be live theatre!
I host a weekly one-hour radio program featuring cast album selections as well as songs by cabaret, jazz and theatre artists. The program, FRONT ROW CENTRE is heard Sundays 9 to 10 am and also Saturdays from 8 to 9 am (eastern times) on www.proudfm.com

I hope so!
Sound on the old EMI issue was horrible!

Hah. I just payed 42 bucks for the original edition several months ago.
Oh well atleast I can say I have the original edition that is printed as "soundtrack."
I hope the new one is remastered, and has a better insert!

Posted: 10/2/05 at 8:43amI only have it on cassette. Personally, I like the re-write of Bravest Individual and adore Mike Rupert's rendition of the title theme. Looking forward to having it in a digital version. Bravo!

Posted: 10/2/05 at 9:22amThe last time I played the CD I was surprised at how short it was. I didn't care for the sound of the pit orchestra either. I'll stick with the OBC and the London Prowse version. I also found the complete JAY version rather lackluster. As for the current revival, only played it once since seeing the show which I have to admit I surprisingly enjoyed.

frontrowcentre2---Fantastic news! Thanks for sharing. I have great memories of seeing this production when it first opened.
And I've worn my old cassette tape to a frazzle.
