I just can't believe we'd get Mamma Mia and Riverdance again. I mean I can't believe Riverdance is still touring!!

I'm holding a breath for the show that'll be announced on 7/2!!

how funny - I don't think the cast has been told to keep it a secret b/c I heard directly from a cast member himself what this "secret" show is.

i wonder what the hush hush is all about? some marketing tactic?

re: Sacramento 2007-08 Broadway Series

It cannot be Les Mis -- it has played there before (a couple times) and it also played the Music Circus (I think....)

I was going to say it might be something big.... It says something sacramento has ever seen....

any suggestions?
"Whenever I get gloomy with the state of the world, I think about the arrivals gate at Heathrow Airport. General opinion's starting to make out that we live in a world of hatred and greed, but I don't see that. It seems to me that love is everywhere. Often it's not particularly dignified or newsworthy, but it's always there - fathers and sons, mothers and daughters, husbands and wives, boyfriends, girlfriends, old friends. When the planes hit the Twin Towers, as far as I know none of the phone calls from the people on board were messages of hate or revenge - they were all messages of love. If you look for it, I've got a sneaky feeling you'll find that love actually is all around."

What's the Whistle Down the Wind? I'm not the biggest ALW fans but one of my happiest theatre surprises was how much I enjoyed the Gayle Edwards production which I saw on a whim in London--I know the tour in England made the show more "kiddie" cutting some of the darker stuff--which completely seems wrongheaded to me

Yeah I've heard the rumors that it is Jersey Boys. But there are two of them floating around. One is that it's just tech rehersals, probably like what the going on with the other tour in New Haven. Which could be possible since there's going to be a Vegas cast. But today I heard that it's an actual tour engagement.

Not very good shows. Riverdance? Give me a break. And Mamma Mia! again. Geez. Is there any chance the secret show is The Color Purple?

Phantom stopped in Sacramento for a week (or two?) when the SF sit-down was still there.

eric...from the website:

A new Andrew Lloyd Webber production, WHISTLE DOWN THE WIND comes to town from October 31 – November 11 to make its Sacramento premiere. Whistle Down the Wind combines the efforts of Andrew Lloyd Webber (Jesus Christ Superstar, Phantom of the Opera) and Jim Steinman (Meatloaf’s “Bat Out of Hell”) in an uplifting tale about a mysterious stranger being hidden by a young girl. With music inspired by the American South – blues, gospel, country and rock ‘n roll, Whistle Down the Wind features the award-winning smash-hit by Boyzone, “No Matter What.”

Yes, the Sherry cast is doing a stop in Sacramento in September.

Yes the mystery show is Jersey Boys (Sherri Company), and they'll come to Sacramento from 9/7 to 9/22. They don't know if there will be RUSH tickets unless it's in the contract (by JB team) as Broadway Sacramento will not have any problem selling the tickets out especially in the orchestra section.

I'll renew the subscription just for this (LOL) and will organize a group too.

re: Sacramento 2007-08 Broadway Series

Well if it's confirmed (and by what everyone is saying it sounds solid) it looks like I'll be heading to Sac to see the show in September because I have to see how Steve will blend in with the Sherry cast.

I wish I still had my apartment in Davis so I wouldn't have to drive straight from the city.

Yes, the contract has been signed and sealed (by little birdie). It's possible that Bay Area JB fans will come to see the show, so you may be able to carpool??
