I'm not much of a techie but here's a tip that I use for DVDs for movies which have not been released on Blu-ray :
Use a Blu-ray player ( presumably on the same region as the DVD) to play your DVD and the clarity of the film is very much enhanced.
I understand that international movie blu-ray releases do not make money yet for the producers ( maybe because of the number of blu-ray players that have been purchased) unlike in the USA where blu-ray players already enjoy a wide audience approval.
Who knows - maybe someday the 10th Anniversary concert will finally get a blu-ray release.
As for this concert --
Let's just hope that it gets filmed and eventually released in some format.

Isn't that great -- it even includes the libretto. I love reading the stories of how some of the songs became part of the final Barbican production. Colm Wilkinson singing BRING HIM HOME and one cast member saying they knew it was about God but that they did not know he was going to sing it. And how they were thinking of cutting out EMPTY CHAIRS AT EMPTY TABLES ( which means it would have taken me much longer to discover Michael Ball). And can you imagine that the original production was something like almost 4 1/2 hours long? But they had to cut it down, at least so it can be ready for a more commercial release at the West End...The photos of the original cast seem to evoke such a long time ago. Btw, in the re-released version of THE 10TH ANNIVERSARY CONCERT, they also incorporated STAGE BY STAGE, the first video featuring the many productions world-wide of the show. I was very amused by the different takes on Cossette
Talking about the original cast in London -- Zoe Hart played the young Cossette ( the very first to sing CASTLE ON A CLOUD) at the Barbican and at the West End transfer. Years later, when she was a budding teenager, she played the role of the young Jenny, together with Michael Ball again, in ASPECTS OF LOVE. I wonder if she is still in the theatre?

It's "Cosette"!
I'm thrilled Lea Salonga has been asked to play Fantine. She was fantastic in the revival.
Count me in as another long-time fan of this musical! First discovered it at age 6 and saw it for the first time at the Shubert in L.A. in 1989. Have seen the show 26 more times since and I'm finally travelling to London this fall to see it at the Queen's. I wish I could have seen it while it was still at the Palace though.
I simply don't get tired of listening to the gorgeous score. It thrills me every time. Throw in that incredible, uplifting story, and I'm hooked...for life! Les Mis is my heroin/crack/cocaine/Jesus Juice/weed/all of the above! lol.

She first performed the role of Eponine on Broadway in 1993. This was followed by the 10th Anniversary Concert at the Royal Albert Hall (London) in 1995. Her next Lez Miz stint was on Broadway as Fantine in 2007.
She was also in the London cast in 1996.
Her first performance on Broadway was Jan 5, 1993.

Regarding Lea Michele:
Lea was announced to be Eponine for the Broadway revival, but backed out and Celia Keenan-Bolger took the part. (Hail Celia!)
Lea Michele did appear as Eponine, however, at the Hollywood Bowl.
p.s.
Lea (Laya) Salonga
Lea (Leeya) Michele
pps: Les Miz (my preference), or Les Mis.
Please, not Lez Miz.

Lea Salonga as Fantine is awesome! Its possible that theyre asking Lea Michelle to play Eponine.
But the real deal is if Justin Bieber will play Gavroche! lol.

How else do you get from an "ee" sound to an "ah" sound? The "y" is the transition.
Just like in most American accents you end up pronouncing a "y" (as in the beginning of "your") when you say "fire," but there isn't a "y" in it.

There in NO 'y' sound in the name for Lea Michele.
The correct way to say it is LEE-uh

Similarly, there is NO 'h' sound in her name.
If the 'h' in your LEE-uh is silent, why can't you accept a silent 'y' in my Leeya?
p.s. When I got Lea Michele's autograph (stagedoor), I asked her, "Is it (your first name) Leeya or Laya?"
She replied, "It's Leeya. Thanks for asking."
I looked again at the name, Lea. There was no 'h'. There was no 'y'.

Cinestage is supposed to release US theater dates tomorrow, but you can already see them on Fandango. (I have no idea if this is comprehensive.)

Thanks again... sure, after I bought my ticket last night NOW they list places closer to me. However, those places are not yet selling tickets, so I think I'm better off.
Apparently this information isn't being released to the general public until Monday!

A preview of the DVD has been released on YT.
Edited to add that there is a strong rumor that the Valjean Quartet will repeat their performance at the Royal Variety Show in December. There has been no formal announcement yet, other than a mention on Colm Wilkinson's website. Alfie Boe has hinted at three bits of news 10 days ago on Twitter, and has since acknowledged that people seem to be aware of this rumor, but has not confirmed or denied the report.
