Samuel French Bookstore vandalized last night, will not reopen

Woah.

From their website:

“PLEASE BE ADVISED: The plan for our Los Angeles bookshop to close at the end of this month has changed. On the night of Monday, March 4, the store was broken into and seriously vandalized. And earlier that day, several men deliberately intimidated a beloved member of our staff on the premises. The police require us to close the store pending their investigation and with our staff's safety in mind, we are unable to reopen it.”

...Is this what happens when one chooses to trade in  "illegal" Mockingbird scripts - instead of the officially approved Aaron Sorkin versions?

Seriously - another sad outcome for a theatrical institution.  I would assume it is random street crime -

What a shame! I cant even understand the ghinking behind this. Criminals with a kick 'em while theyre down attitude mixed with a specialty bookshop meets its end fury?

Used to work in the NY office years ago. This article is so sad in so many ways. Nice that scripts and other materials will be donated to theatres, libraries, etc.
