Saw Dracula

Ok this show was awsome. It is definitely not Frank Wildhorn's best and the music while it has some nice tunes is nowhere near as good as CIVIL WAR or anything. I can definitely see where it was slow sometimes and the "boring" but the show is still only 2 hours 10 minutes so I was fine. Again, it's a musical so I really don't care about the story or the acting. I wouldn't have believed it even if they had done it right. It was just exciting to watch all that amazing action and special effects. Excellent design and stagecraft in this show. I missed the nudity because my eyes were looking in the wrong place when here dress blew off so all I saw was a boob when she was on the bed. Tom Hewitt was great but Melissa Ericco kind of stinks. She has one of those funny vowels when she says words like "fear tear and learn." "The Heart Is Slow To Love" or "The Heart Is Slow To Learn?" Some choir teacher probably taught her to do it and it does not work in musical theatre. I was also a little disapointed that the band was so small and not powerful enough at all. They only time they had power it sounded like was in "Life After Life, the curtain call, and the exit music(which is life after life) which is when they finaly started rockin out and I could actually hear drums for the first time. I know I know. It's not a rock musical and there really are no screaming power pop ballads in this show but the bottom line is that they needed more power. The student rush seats in the front row are worth the money as usual but just like AIDA, they do not tell you that they are actually obstructed view because of the stage height. "Before the Summer Ends" is definitely the best song in the show and it's a shame that Darren Ritchie sings it because he is nowhere near as good as Tom Hewitt doing it on the cd.

well, i'm glad you liked the show, but i can't believe you just said you don't care about the acting or the story because it's a musical...wow...to each his own my friend

that's cool dude--alot of people share yor opinion i'm sure...that's essentially what all the revue shows do...and they do VERY well...nothing wrong with that...

Now, don't get me wrong. I saw 'Dracula' in previews and really liked it. In fact I'm going back to see it later this month, but your standards are alarmingly low.
If I found as many things wrong with it as you did I'd want my money back!

hahahhah, i did realize after i wrote that that i only listed the cons and never did say much good about it. well, i did think it was awsome basically because "before the summer ends" is an awsome song along with a few others, and I love the special effects. It's a musical. Those are my standards.

yeah, I have to agree. we, at the absolutely OFFICIAL fangroup (The Order of Dracula) have already voted on our name, and though Draccies was among teh many choices, in keeping with Jekyll and Hyde's Jekkies, it was vehemntly shot down in favor of The ORder. And The Order really isnt a lame name for a Wildhorn group when you recall that the official fans of Scarlet pimpernel were The League. I know The Order isnt as silly, funny, cute (whatever it is you were going for) as Draccies, but what can I say, we chose the dark and romantic name over the cutesy one. Sorry to disappoint.
Obviously, if u feel like calling yourself a Draccy, you are more than welcome to do so, but please respect that we the official fan group take offense to such a dorky name by just refraining from applying it to the rest of us. We are The Order, and if you have a problem with that, you are always welcome at the website (which my fellow Order member listed above) to voice your opinion on the matter.
I know this seemse like such a trivial thing and we're just waisting time and space, but it actually appears to be a touchy thing within the group, as Yankeefan007's comment was mentioned with great derision on our Order message board. Its great that people love the show, and Yankeefan007, thank you for spreading the word about the strong presence of the show's fans, we simply ask that you do it right.
O, and piping in on the main discussion, I think it goes without saying that I thought the show was amazing!
