Depends on your definition of flying - when we saw it on Halloween - they pretty much just hung there on bungees - swinging back and forth - it was lame. And I've said this for months - with all the broadway money and special affects - the freakin witches should be able to fly also - the flying affects in Wicked are so bad compared to the Cathy Rigby Peter Pan - truly beautiful flying in that one.
"I don't really get the ending,all i can go with is when after several months,Judith saw Pat sang,and later she kissed him on the toilet,after that the story back to where Pat went down from the stage after he'd sung,and he went to the italian lady.I just don't get it,what Judith exatcly meant when he kissed Pat that she had seen,and did Pat end up together with The Italian Lady?Please help me,thank u very much!"

yeah, it was more of a swinging thing lol. But I can't see how having Idina fly over the audience would be much better. I think it would be too over the top.

OH I disagree with you there - if she flew over the audience it would be amazing!...and I don't like the Galinda bubble entrance - it just doesn't work for me - but otherwise the show is passable on many levels - it just didn't float my boat.

Idina flying over the audience? ECH. During such an important part of the show, that would feel like a joke, IMO.
Seriously, I think the fact that she just levitates into the air is very powerful. It is not visually distracting from her vocal power as flying around would be, and it serves both the "flying" illusion and the metaphor of flying well.

I thought the Defying Gravity effect was striking and the perfect set up for all the flying that was sure to come in Act 2. But didn't.
