yet when someone other than this saycon squeaks, it's "oh my god, that's so terrible, they're just screaming and it's annoying and they suck and blah blah blah blah blah..." but, because it's saycon, it's okay...i love the double standards...

I've no opinion about Saycon, but having heard most of the other Aidas either live or on boots, I have to say that Heather Headley live was the best Aida, bar none.
That is all.
(Oops, actually that's not all. I don't sing but I've got a pretty good ear for music, and I don't think Elphaba is vocally more challenging than Aida at all.)

Is it horrible that I saw this thread title and thought that idinamenzelfan2937372634723 was back?
I've always wondered this, how do you pronounce Saycon Sengbloh? It's really hard to figure these things out when you've only seen it typed, and I have a pet peeve about pronouncing names wrong so I want to get it right.
Wanting life but never knowing how

Posted: 7/2/05 at 1:21amI thought Saycon was pretty good as Aida. I definitely think that Aida is more challenging, vocally.

Posted: 7/2/05 at 1:41amAida requires a different quality in the voice. Aida is soulful. Elphaba requires more of a rock belt, if that makes sense. Both are terribly difficult, but different.

Posted: 7/2/05 at 1:46amMy favorite Aida was Deborah Cox. I thought she was really refreshing and I loved her... I don't like Michelle Williams and I know enough that I would not have liked her as Aida.

Posted: 7/2/05 at 10:42amI agree, I LOVED Deborah Cox, I never saw Saycon, but from clips I heard of her in Wicked, she sounds very very good. Then again, in my opinion, all the women who have played Elphaba have been very good. The problem with this role is that it is so different for many people, thats why u cant compare the actresses.

I am STILL laughing over this statement:
"Years ago, when I went to see WICKED"
That should be what this thread is about - WICKED hasnt even played in NYC for 2 yrs yet and this thread makes it seem like its run longer than CATS! LOL!
