I think it's awesome to have three diverse women perform at this time in history after white bread Luke Bryan did the National Anthem. Bravo ladies!

I wasn't blown away. That arrangement was odd but I did love the "sisterhood" addition!

Deena's screen name just had me dreaming about Sheryl, Jennifer and Loretta as the Schuyler Sisters

It would have been a whole lot cooler if they had worn the Schuyler sisters' costumes!

They were perfect, and color coordinated. Loved every moment.

It was fine but nothing to scream about. JMO

This is typical of several comments in this thread that seem to miss the forest for the trees. No one really cares what anyone thinks about the actual performance. What there is to scream about for theatre people is that something that is "ours" has so ingratiated itself into the broader culture that it was given a perch on the biggest of all stages.

It is sort of a BWW tradition. no?
Seems like they also put a little bit of the Schuyler Sisters run in at the end, no?
Great job seeing them.... this morning, since I didn't watch the game, at all, heh.

I was hoping they would have been part of the halftime show instead, but I enjoyed their performance a lot.

Totally agree, HogansHero. Also that worth screaming about is the fact that they are three fierce women of color. Though I *did* hope they were appear during the halftime show in full out costume with Gaga in Hamilton drag.

I guess I am missing your point. Idina Menzel sang the national anthem at the Super Bowl so it is not like a Broadway star has not done something like this before. If the ladies sang something from the actual show itself than I would get your point. How about 12 minutes of "Hamilton" for a halftime show - lol.

It was fine but I have not read anybody mention it in things I have read besides this web site. To get real attention you have to either knock it out of the park like Lady Gaga last night during the half time show or do a incredible rendition of the National Anthem like Whitney Houston many years a go.

I know I get excited to see Broadway folk on a national platform any time it happens... I think it's the fact that, although a national "brand," we Broadway folk are a tight community. Maybe this is because you have to experience Broadway in NYC or on tour... it remains feels "special" to see it in the spotlight.

Idina already crossed over with Let It Go at that point, though. And usually whenever we see a Broadway person on a national stage, it is because they have crossed over into another level of fame. Last night, all three are only known for being from Hamilton, which to most of the country means they are unknowns. So, they got a national stage based on being in a massively popular Broadway show.

Very good point, thanks for sharing.

They did indeed. Alex Lacamoire did the arrangement. Someone asked him about it on Twitter last night and he confirmed it (and was happy and impressed the noticed, so kudos to you). He also said the ladies were the ones who suggested adding "and sisterhood" which I truly loved.

I adored it.
Think it would have been cool to see the OBC of Hamilton do a half-time show. They're more relevant than Lady Gaga at this point in time. Guess they want the broader audience to recognize the music though.

Is Gaga's audience really wider than Hamilton's though?

lol. yes.

Not sure how "lol. yes" that is anymore... Gaga's last album still hasn't cracked 1m worldwide, while Hamilton is nearing 3m in the US alone. She's still super relevant, but definitely on the wane (last night's huge exposure aside.)

I'd say Hamilton has more fans than her in 2017 but she is still the more famous entity.

lol. I was at a party the management threw for my whole apartment complex, and there were lots of people there... everyone asked who the three women were and I said they're from Hamilton and the response was, "What's that? Oh a movie right? I've heard the name." I was honestly kind of surprised!
