Is it just me, or Rudin producing a ton this season? Currently he has A View from the Bridge, then The Crucible, Blackbird, Shuffle Along, and now The Humans.

LCT wanted the Lyceum for the Tom Stoppard play but were told the theater was booked with an Off Bway transfer . Just a guess that this is for the Humans . It all boils down to selling seats , which theater has the most seats ?

I guess he was lead on 4 last season (Skylight, Fish in the Dark, A Delicate Balance, and This is Our Youth as well as being on Curious Incident) plus two off-Broadway (The Flick and Iceman Cometh), but still...

The Lyceum seems like a terrible choice if that's the case. It's a small play and would feel pretty dwarfed in that house.

"Fairly certain the Hayes stage is bigger than the Pels stage, VintageSnarker. No?"
I could absolutely be wrong and perhaps it's the shows I've seen in each theater. The Laura Pels feels tall with those two story sets (Significant Other/The Humans) while Dames at Sea makes the Helen Hayes feel small. Even when they bring in the ship, the stage doesn't feel that big.

Just because they were told "off Broadway transfer" doesn't mean it's the Humans. It could be anything. I don't think Scott Rudin is stupid enough to put The Humans in the Lyceum. He's actually quite smart...
"It all boils down to selling seats , which theater has the most seats ?"
This is not true at all. You don't want the theater with the most seats if you have an intimate show. Can you imagine Dames at Sea in the Neil Simon?

Neon just curious ,do you consider AVFTB to be an intimate show ?

Sure, but in a different way. I wouldn't want to sit in the Lyceum balcony for this production of Bridge.
Your point about "selling seats , which theater has the most seats ?" is still wrong.

Considering AVFTB's previous homes were at the Cort, the Simon, the Ambassador and the O'Neill (some of those under different names at the time of the run)... this current run is at its most intimate home yet. Just some insight. I also agree that Rudin is not stupid enough to transfer The Humans to the Lyceum.

So the answer is yes AVFTB is intimate but in a different way . The Lyceum is a play house mostly . So if you have the Hayes , Booth and the Lyceum which are all intimate houses i would pick the one with the most seats . Also why do you guys says "stupid enough " the man is a monster producer and knows what he is doing . I guess only time will tell who's right .

Because this "monster producer" should have the brains to know that a small, off-Broadway transfer of a show in the Booth or the Hayes will keep its intimacy (in addition to having 250+ seats less to sell to fill the house) rather than putting it in the Lyceum. An intimate house, yes, but still a larger one than the other two options nonetheless.
I don't know Rudin's plans. None of us do. I would just think a producer as smart as he would go for the most intimate house he could grab and with several available (or potentially available) the Lyceum would not be my first choice if I were him.

broadwayrocks2, what Tom Stoppard/LCT play are you referring to? Did I miss something?

They were looking for a theater for The Hard Problem but canceled it due to lack of Shubert theaters

It also has a 2 story set, so, they're probably taking into account how many of the seats would be "partial view" if they're further back in the orchestra, etc.
I think this will be a tough sell on Broadway, but happy it's coming. It's a great, interesting play. But it is devoid of any real big explosive dramatic moments, which might seem less-Broadway for some.

broadwayrocks, is The Hard Problem really cancelled? Is it possible to bring it over later?

All i know is that it was cancelled for spring of 2016 for lack of a Shubert house . Doesnt mean they wont try again when a theater opens . I honestly don't know . I work at the Lyceum and would have loved for them to come in .
