Seating for The Great Comet

Presale has started for Josh Groban fans for The Great Comet. I would like to buy the banquettes seats as a gift for a friend's birthday. For the Orch and Mezz seats I can choose my seat but for onstage seating that option is unavailable. Telecharge selects the seats for you. The onstage seating map does not have any kind of numbering to indicate where the seats are. Does anyone know if there is a way to tell where the onstage seats are located?

There's a small note when you select on-stage seating that the exact seat number will be determined by the box office and you'll find out when the tickets are issued. I'm guessing that, perhaps, the seating isn't 100% finalized.

I was going to buy stage seating until I got the message that seating will be finalized by the box office at a later date. I just bought a side orchestra seat. Can't justify spending $250+ and not knowing exactly where the seat is.

But what terrible availability! I think I might just take a chance and wait for regular ticket release. Will the Groban fans be huge competition for this?

If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it? These are DISCUSSION boards, not mutual admiration boards. Discussion only occurs when we are willing to hear what others are thinking, regardless of whether it is alignment to our own thoughts.

OK - I just went back in and looked around again - I attempted to buy tickets and saw the message come up about being assigned at a later date. Anytime I've bought onstage seats I always know where I am sitting ahead of time. I agree that it is a lot of money to pay for the unknown. I would prefer to choose my own seats. Maybe orchestra is a better option.

Yeah, and it makes a difference where you sit on stage for this one...though of course we won't know exactly what goes where in this incarnation of the show until it opens. I ended up going with side orch and praying that those side ramps up to the balcony won't be right in my face...

I am not really a huge Groban fan but my friend is. I was surprised to get the e-mail this morning. I expected to buy tickets on Sunday when the Amex presale starts. The only thing I did was sign-up on the shows website for notifications. Maybe that's why I got the e-mail.

Patty - That's exactly why you got it. For some reason there's a presale for the presale and they're calling it "Fans of Josh Groban," but really it's just people who signed up to be notified of the presale. I'm not a fan at all, but whatever, if it lets me buy tickets before everyone else, I'll be whatever they want me to be.

I did the same thing- no particular affinity for Groban here, but nevertheless I got the fan discount because I signed up for the Great Comet notification.

However, the high ticket prices and the lack of confirmed stage seating locations are kind of making me wary of shelling out $200+ right now. I feel like a better opportunity may come up down the line.

I don't really see stage seating coming down in price. Unless you know something I don't.

Well, there isn't a discount, just early access. (or did I miss something?)

I already decided that on stage pricing was more than my budget would stand, so I ended up grabbing a couple for orch seats for Veteran's Day weekend.

Is Groban really going to be such a draw that it justifies these super high prices for a very unconventional show?
