Unless you'd take them to SPRING AWAKENING.

THE GRADUATE.

Why would you think they would be interested in seeing Equus? Go see The Lion King for God's sake.

No. Not in any way, shape or form. I would never take someone this young to this show. Bad, bad, bad choice. Full frontal male nudity, graphic implied violence, and adult subject matter abound.

Take them to MARY POPPINS. Or, TARZAN. Or, WICKED.

They both enjoyed Virginia Woolf and we stagedoored but they found Spring Awakening to be full of pith but not much content...their words.

I am sure there must be child labor laws against that or something.

Even if you're a family of nudists and are completely comfortable with exposing them to extended full frontal male and female nudity, the subject matter and themes are completely inappropriate for any 8-year old.

Goofy, in answer to your question, methinks the only reason that an eight-year old would want to see this is because it stars HARRY POTTER! Egad, what a marketing nightmare...

There's full frontal male nudity, but I don't think it's "extended".

...unless mr. Radcliffe gets a little too "into" the scene.

it's extensive??? I was imagining something more along the lines of The Graduate. is he really going to be running around naked for whole scenes??? that's frightening.

Many adults do not really understand EQUUS so taking chidren would be a total waste of money. You probably wouldn't understand the play either re: Seeing Equus With My 8 Year Old Niece and Nephew

Although Equus is one of the most brilliant works of contemporary theatre, bringing an 8 year old would be sick. This isn't Harry Potter, this is intense story, language and action in this play. An 8 year old would never comprehend Shaffer's dialoge, as many older folks do not...(the dialogue with no changes is very British) so why bother. If this production is done correctly, your 8 year old niece and nephew will have nightmares for weeks.

I highly advise you to NOT take them. The subject matter alone should have made you think this would not be a proper thing to do. It's not something I'd ever think about taking any 8 year old two, let alone my niece and nephew.

Go and see it yourself. But IMHO, no one under 18 should see this play no matter how good it is, no matter who is in it.
