...does anyone else find this to be a really skeevy practice and think they should tell people it's not allowed?
I think the trading concept is a great idea. However, there was one really, really obnoxious guy in the "trading cage" who was loudly trying to sell his Spiderman tickets for $100 each. He kept claiming he could get "double that" for them on Stubhub. Several people told him to leave and go do just that. People would offer to trade with him and he would give this condescending laugh. I just found him really obnoxious, and find the practice of selling comp tickets you won at a charity auction to be really, really...low.
I asked the TDF people about it, and one guy said, "what people do with the tickets is not our business" and the other guy said, "It sucks, I know."
Anyone else encounter this rude guy?

No, but I saw him, too. This was a large Asian man in a red and white striped button down shirt.
The thing is, NY state law doesn't permit you to sell tickets for more than 20% above face value. The face value of the tickets is $0.00, so he'd be in violation of the law for selling them for more than $20.00

Well last year I bought a pair of A Little Night Music tickets from someone who won them at the raffle. The woman claimed she would not be able to make it to that performance and was selling the pair of orchestra seats for 50$. At the time I thought that was an incredibly reasonable price, and was dying to see Bernadette and Elaine, so I jumped at the chance.
I think it just comes down to how obnoxious the person hawking the tickets is and whether you chose to interact with such an individual.

I know what you're going for, adam, and I haven't taken math class in a very long time, but isn't 20% of $0.00 still $0.00? So reselling them for any money would be technically illegal.

You're right.
So the whole thing was illegal no matter what. That makes me even more annoyed.
Fortunately, he bolted as soon as he saw me talking to the TDF people.

Posted: 9/26/11 at 12:30amI - unfortunately - did not get any today. Though I put several chances in the "pair of tix to 5 shows" thing because there really weren't that many in there around 3pm today. I don't think they've drawn it yet. (shows are Evita, Bonnie & Clyde, Clear Day, and I forget the other 2).
