Downtown Buffalo is only about 15-20 minutes to Niagara Falls!
An easy drive along the Niagara River!
Yup. I will bring my passport. My sisters who live in NYC wants to go to Niagara Falls this Summer.
I never been to Niagara Falls, when we were kids my uncle ask me to go with them but or some reason...I did not go with them.
So what's playing this June or July or August? and its like 8 hours away from NYC? is that right?

HUSK:
Good Catch! They used snippets of those clips to annunce the show last night.
I assume it's an entirely new cast for the US Tour, but this looks so dark and lackluster to me.
Oh well. I'm sure someone will like it!
Thanks for finding this!

Jay.. you should DEFINITELY come for a visit. Wicked is playing at Shea's June 18th-July 13th (I've never seen it... looking forward to going!). Come that final weekend and you can also enjoy the Taste of Buffalo... the second biggest food festival in the country, behind Chicago. The summer's here are really nice.
And seriously.. I'd be happy to show you and your family around the area. Drop me an email if you're interested in more information (where to stay, what to do, etc.) We're nice, down-to-earth, friendly people here... I swear!

I live south of Buffalo and have been going to Shea's since I was little. I actually applied for an internship when Wicked is there starting in June, except I haven't heard anything back yet. Either way, I am in LOVE with this theatre.
But I am sort of disappointed with this season. The current season really made me excited, as Shea's was finally getting some hit shows. And now it seems like they've taken a step backwards.
And to think, they wanted to tear Shea's down 20 years ago.
Jay you should definitely come to Buffalo this summer, it's beautiful!
I wasn't surprised that we did not get Jersey Boys or Spring Awakening, because of Toronto. I was surprised that they could not manage to get Mary Poppins, with all their "family orientated theater" talk. Well, I'm sure the shows that are coming will be great nonetheless.
Buffalo is BEAUTIFUL in the summer. I can't wait to go home for some of it. I miss being out on the family boat. Taste of Buffalo is fun too... and the Allentown Art Festival is one of the big things too!
Obviously I'll be home for Wicked... I've seen it plenty of times, but one more for Shea's isn't a prob with me

I actually really like it, because it's not a re-hash of the MGM film (at least, not visually).

It sounds similar to Rochester's Theatre Broadway League line up, with a few exceptions. I agree, Shea's is a gorgeous theater and my favorite. I was lucky to have my college theatre & dance department formal there last spring. I just felt bad for the staff having to deal with us at the open bar, and being too drunk. I was considerate as possible, but I do admit that I snuck into the auditorium with a couple of people and hopped on stage for a minute. When else would I have the chance?

Jay. ArtPark is doing Beauty and the Beast this summer as their big musical. You would porobably enjoy all of ArtPark. A NY state park devoted to the Arts.
If you're interested, will check dates etc.
Those Wizard clips are from the UK tour look at the url "org.UK" and listen to the accents.
When I played SHEAS in my youth they had a wall backstage with the legendary performers who had performed there.
Is that still there?
it was a history of Vaudville and was quite impressive.
Hey PUPPETMAN...
"Beauty and the Beast" is playing ARTPARK August 14-24.

Don't know if the wall with names is still there. The stage house was completely rebuild from procenium back, new dressing rooms, much deeper stage so that any show can not play there etc. The theater was unusable for almost a year with shows going to the theater at University of Buffalo.
Thank you so much guys..I just got back from NYC and I have soo many pm's from you guys...to go to Buffalo this summer and one sweet guy who work there promised me to give me a tour of the theater... Again .. I cannot expressed my gratitude! You guys are soo sweet! Nicest suprise I got when I got home tonight!
Puppetman2- Youre pm is off...

defying-
YEs, but it's the same director, same logo, and according to DTL the same clips shown at the announcement of the season, so my guess is he;s importing it.
Alomost forgot....our big outdoor annual summer "Shakespeare in Delaware Park" program...

If you're going to cross the border into Canada to check out Niagara Falls, you may as well take another 15 minute drive to Niagara-on-the-Lake where the Shaw Festival is.
The Shaw is the 2nd largest classical repertory theatre in North America. (The 1st is Stratford.)
The Shaw has WONDERFUL TOWN and A LITTLE NIGHT MUSIC for the musicals this year.
If you don't see any shows there, at least take a look at the town - very picturesque.
Shaw Festival
Niagara-on-the-Lake is beautiful too!

There is so much to do here in the summer. Lots of theater, concerts festivals the there is not enough time to do it all.
All the gambling casinos have great talent line ups in their show rooms.
