re: Shea's Buffalo '08-'09 Season Announced.

If you're going to cross the border into Canada to check out Niagara Falls, you may as well take another 15 minute drive to Niagara-on-the-Lake where the Shaw Festival is. The Shaw is the 2nd largest classical repertory theatre in North America. (The 1st is Stratford.) The Shaw has WONDERFUL TOWN and A LITTLE NIGHT MUSIC for the musicals this year. If you don't see any shows there, at least take a look at the town - very picturesque.

re: 'LORD OF THE RINGS' -London Production Closes!

Apr 9, 2008 — 2:39:51 PM

With women over 40 years old making up over half of the purchase decision-making in the performing arts, it isn't surprising that LORD OF THE RINGS didn't translate into box office success. The films appealed mainly to males between the ages of late teens to early 50s. That demographic isn't known to plunk down the big bucks at the theatre. If you have a show that appeals to the ladies, you're more likely to have a box office success. Look at MAMMA MIA! - it markets itself as a feel-good, fun...

I bet it would be April at the earliest since they're not even halfway through their 1st season yet. They announced their inaugural season April 2007, which is kinda late, considering Mirvish announces theirs at the beginning of February and start selling subscriptions to new subscribers at the beginning of March. Mirvish has two months advance to lock up those valuable subscriber dollars. It'd be interesting to see what kind of hat trick they pull to compete against the Mirvish season. They ...

Were there two understudies for the SPRING AWAKENING cast? Skylar Astin, Brian Charles Johnson, and Jonathan B. Wright were there for sure. And was that Blake Bashoff as Moritz? And it looked like the understudies were on for Ernst and Melchior.

Didn't notice the speaker problems... probably because I was sitting at the front, so all the sound wasn't directed at me.

THE WIZ is not happening anymore, apparently. Only definite on Dancap that has been announced is DANCIN'. Still two more shows to be announced for Mirvish. Dancap better have something up his sleeve, or he's screwed.

And it's supposed to be sometime in early 2009 after the JERSEY BOYS engagement at the Toronto Centre (formerly the Ford Centre).

Dancap Productions in Toronto is apparently bringing the show to Toronto as part of the pre-Broadway tryout. Toronto Centre for the Arts, apparently.

"And it is absolutely a sitdown. Des McAnuff was at the launch party on Monday." Posted On: 4/26/07 at 03:58 PM "Their first season and the ability to maintain a sitdown (yes, Jersey Boys) will dictate that." Posted On: 4/27/07 at 08:27 PM In the words of my favourite bitch... The details of your incompetence do not interest me. That's all.

re: Jersey Boys - Toronto

And like I said, Dancap's official response is that JERSEY BOYS in Toronto will be an extended engagement of the tour. If it was going to be a sit-down production, that would've been something Aubrey Dan would have touted to the rafters! It's not like he has held back on other things, leaking everything to the press. Why wouldn't he announce that? But Tag, if you are absolutely sure it's a sit-down, do you have better evidence/argument than "Des McAnuff was at the press conference, therefore ...

Tag - Like I said - that was the response from Dancap that I got. Re: Bob Martin at the Mirvish press conference He hosted the Mirvish 2006/2007 season press conference as the Man-in-the-Chair. This was in February 2006 prior to the show opening on Broadway. The Mirvishes did the second commercial run of the show, so they used the character of the Man-in-the-Chair as the introducer. The curtain went up on him in the dark, and he got an envelope... he opened it up and it was the Mirvish Season...

I almost forgot the most important part :-p JERSEY BOYS in Toronto will be an extended engagement of a tour. I emailed the publicist at Dancap and she clarified this.
