Oh gosh. What a talent and such wonderful work he gave to us.
After Sondheim passed, I told myself I wanted to write to some people to thank them for their work, and Sheldon Harnick was one. I never did it. I regret for sure now.

His lyrical dexterity from ballads (WHEN DID I FALL IN LOVE) to musical comedy songs (TONIGHT AT EIGHT) was just extraordinary.

For just a year, though allegedly they remained friends for years after.
I'd love to know what went down in that marriage with two big personalities (and both quite prestigious circa 1962).

May he RIP, and yes, his memory is a blessing. The Rothschilds has some wonderful songs. I have hoped for a long time that someone would do a revival. I thought the success of The Lehman Trilogy might spur some interest in a revival, but I hold out hope.

One of my favorite days of theatre was when I saw the recent She Loves Me revival and the Fiddler revival back to back. Extraordinary

A decent decent man.
Sheldon Harnick rewrote the lyrics of his immortal "Sunrise, Sunset" from FIDDLER ON THE ROOF, specifically for gay and lesbian couples, shortly after these weddings were legalized in New York State in 2011.
For male couples:
Is this the little boy I carried?
Is that the little boy at play?
I don’t remember growing older.
When did they?
We did they get to be so handsome?
When did they grow to be so tall?
Wasn’t it yesterday when they were small?
For female couples:

If you're a Bock and Harnick fan and live in the San Francisco Bay Area, i heartily recommend 42nd Street Moon's delightful and romantic revival of ''She Loves Me,'' which wraps up its monthlong run this weekend (Jun 24-25) at the Gateway.
Riley McFarland and Marah Sotelo are especially ''grand, perfectly grand'' as Georg and Amalia, and play the parfumerie clerks with heaven-scent chemistry.

As I am preparing to audition for a production of FIDDLER ON THE ROOF, I am very impressed with Harnick's lyrics. He was a wonderful wordsmith. May he rest in peace

From what I gather, they had a spat but had reconciled recently and wrote a the song "Topsy Turvy" for a recent FIDDLER revival. The song wasn't particularly good buneither was that revival
