Should the Ambassador Theatre be renamed?

Why not wait another 10 years and someone else will take over the Ford/Hilton/Foxwoods/Lyric Theatre. Also, ATG's branding and usage goes by its initials, I believe.

All of the name names are good. If nothing's named for the Merm soon, the moment may have passed.

Another suggestion - the "Hammerstein Theatre." Specifically named after Oscar Hammerstein III. It would also be a nice nod to neighbors a few blocks on either side: The Richard Rodgers on 46th and the original name of the Ed Sullivan Theatre on 53rd (Named for Oscar Hammerstein I - his grandfather)

There needs be an Oscar Hammerstein theatre. I don't care for which one, but if this one needs renaming rename it Oscar Hammerstein. Or just add Oscar Hammerstein to Richard Rodgers.

I found out that in just 20 minutes, they have collected hundreds of responses. The most popular write-in choice was Oscar Hammerstein Theatre.

In the distant future, I could see the Richard Rodgers Theatre be named the Lin-Manuel Miranda Theatre. Obviously, Richard Rodgers deserves to have a theatre named for him, so the Broadway Theatre could renamed the Richard Rodgers Theatre.

I see no reason to re-name it just because ATG has come on the scene. It's been the Ambassador for almost 100 years, though it would be nice to honor one of the many Theatre giants that have yet to have a theatre named for them.

In London, there is the Ambassadors Theatre which was renamed the New Ambassadors when ATG bought it but it reverted to its original name when they sold it to another theatre owner. It's going to renamed the Sondheim Theatre when its refurbished by Cameron Mackintosh but they're awaiting approval from the Council.

I wouldn't be surprised if they renamed after Phillip J Smith since they renamed the Royale and the Plymouth after Bernard Jacobs and Gerald Schoenfeld.

I believe Arthur Miller requested only one theatre to ever be named after him, on University of Michigan's campus.

If we are renaming a theatre The Oscar Hammerstein Theatre, shouldn't it be the Imperial since it's right next to the Richard Rodgers?

That makes no sense whatsoever. Both the idea that they would change the name of the Rodgers to Manuel-Miranda and that they would name a theatre after Lin since he has had only two shows play there. It's like suggesting that The Nederlander should be changed to the Jonathan Larson theatre because both had a hit show in both The Nederlander and Rodgers respectfully. (in the case of Miranda, two.)

A Harold Prince Theatre would be nice, but it should be a bigger theater than the Ambassador. Maybe the Broadway Theatre, where Evita played.

I care less about whether they rename the Ambassador and more about whether they'll ever spruce up the interior. Those ceilings.. And what are those curtains around the seats hiding? I do agree that the Broadway could do with a name change.

I like the more obscure names like The Palace or the Hudson. I think those sound like theaters. I hate this naming thing. Has Hammerstein even had a show play that theater? That seems like an odd choice for it.

So Ambassador bought it or they've always owned it? Surprised Weinstein didn't just snatch it up.
