Hi all!
I went to New York City when I was in middle school somewhere from 2003-2006 around Thanksgiving-Christmastime. My uncle took my cousins and me, and I don't remember much of it. However, I do remember that we saw a play/musical. I would very much like to know the name of the show, but I can only remember a few things!
I'm not sure if it was Broadway/off-Broadway, but I remember there was something about a girl who got pregnant and was kicked out of her home. One thing I distinctly remember (being in middle school and all) was that someone in her family pulled down a window shade and it said the word "whore" and her crying as she left. I think she was a dancer or performer or something. Anyway, I think there was something about a butterfly (maybe she was called a butterfly?) and "Brooklyn" keeps popping in my head but I don't know if I'm making that relation up. I think at the end the girl dies or commits suicide or something. Not sure if it was super appropriate for a middle schooler, but that was my uncle for ya.
Anyway, if this rings a bell to anyone and you have even a hint or an idea of what this show might be, please let me know! I've been wondering for years!!
Thank you!

That's what I was thinking, too. It was wrong for ANY of us to have to see it.
One of the worst shows I've ever seen.

Thank you! I had found that one earlier but wasn't 100% sure if it was the right one!
Yeah, the show was not great from what I remember! And from your responses, that saves me from going back and watching it again! :) Thanks everyone!

You don't have to worry about making that mistake as BROOKLYN: The Musical closed on Broadway on June 26, 2005.

You don't have to worry about seeing it again. It closed quickly and no one would ever dream of reviving it.
