Hey BroadwayWorld,
I'm heading to NYC for another weekend of shows May 12-14 and am looking for advice to help round out my weekend. I have room for 3-4 shows, one of which is occupied with tickets for Waitress with Sara Bareilles. As for the other slots, I feel like I have too many options and can't decide. I'd love to see Hello Dolly, but am doubtful of my chances to get reasonably priced tickets. I've already seen Dear Evan Hansen, Great Comet, Come From Away, Sunset Boulevard, and War Paint from this season.
Currently I'm debating between the following shows to fill the rest of the 2-3 slots: Groundhog Day, Bandstand, Oslo, Indecent, The Little Foxes, Sweat, The Whirlygig (opening off-broadway), and Sweeney Todd (if I'd even be able to get tickets)
What would you recommend from the options? (or if there's another show you feel very strongly about let me know too!)
Thanks and Happy Tony Nominations Eve!

Of your list, Groundhog Day is a ton of fun, Oslo and Sweat are supposed to be excellent as well (Sweat won the Pulitzer). If you can get tickets to Sweeney Todd that would be great too, Carolee Carmello is supposed to be an AMAZING Mrs. Lovett. If you really want to see Hello Dolly you can try the four-day rule with resale sites. I'm not 100% sure if they have a rush or SRO policy.

Definitely go to The Little Foxes. I saw Cynthia as Regina and the whole cast is fantastic. A great play for sure. Bandstand is actually a good time at the theatre. The music is great, the dancing is on point and Laura Osnes is great. I enjoyed it more than I thought I would.

The Little Foxes and Oslo are quite well done, but I think the can't-miss play this season is A Doll's House, Part 2. Funny and thought-provoking, and Laurie Metcalf is genius.

How "talky" is The Little Foxes and Doll's House? My mom was not a huge fan of Long Day's Journey Into Night when we saw it last year since it was fairly long for her and a lot of talking with not much happening (her words not mine) despite the performances being great. I feel like The Little Foxes might be the same, but am unfamiliar with the show. Anyone have input?
Thanks!

Consider The Play That Goes Wrong! If you're a comedy fan, I've never laughed harder in a theatre than in the Lyceum at this show.

Doll's House is talky in the sense that there isn't a lot of staging, but the dialogue is quick and often quite funny. It's only about 85 minutes and moves briskly.
The Little Foxes is definitely a slower production as the play is older and has a much more rigid construction, but it's close to melodrama and has some bigger moments as the play progresses.

I also recommend A Doll's House, Part 2 over the other plays on your list.

I will also be going around the same time. I have also seen the shows you have except for War Paint which I will be seeing and Hello Dolly.
I also have 2-3 slots available. I am leaning towards Bandstand, Groundhog Day, Sweat, and possible The Golden Apple at Encores! I will be starting a thread on that one. There are only a few shows from 5/10-14th.
If you are still around the evening of the 14th Patti Lupone will be in concert.
Hello Dolly does have SRO tix if sold out. That probably is one not to be missed.

Indecent! It is really incredible. I think a lot of people have not seen it, but I have heard wonderful things from others who have and I truly loved it.

The only one from your list that I've seen is Groundhog Day, and I do highly recommend it. However, I would also highly recommend that you avoid the mezzanine at all costs. We sat in the the fifth row center and the experience was like some medieval torture device. There is NO legroom at all (I'm 5'10" and had to bend my legs off toward the seat next to me and bend my knees so that my feet were underneath my seat) and no upstairs restroom. Also, there isn't nearly enough of a rake in the mezzanine, so the lower 1/3 to 1/2 of the stage was blocked by the people in the preceding rows. Loved the show, but the August Wilson is the worst theatre I've ever been in.
