Hi! I am fairly new to this board. I am traveling to NY for a long weekend on Nov 3. I already have a ticket to Hello, Dolly! with Donna Murphy on Saturday night, and a ticket to Dear Evan Hansen for Sunday matinee. Anyone have any suggestions for a relatively inexpensive ticket for Friday night? Originally I wanted to see Waitress, and I was waiting until October to purchase discount seats through TodayTix, but then they just announced Jason Mraz starting that same day! Bummer, because I really didn’t care too much about him, it was more that I just wanted to see that show. So my question is, is it worth it for me to still buy a ticket for Waitress for that night, cheapest ticket for front mezzanine is now $169-179, or are there better shows that you all would recommend? I would greatly appreciate any advice! I live closer to the west coast, so I likely will not be getting out to NYC any time again soon. Thank you!

You seem to really want to see Waitress, and all Jason is making you do is pay regular price, where Sara pumped many of the same seats to premium prices, so not sure why that would be a deal breaker.
There's still a chance that you can get discounts later for the show through TodayTix or something, although it does look like the Mraz bargain hunters have already eliminated most of the rear mezz.
If you want to get in on the ground floor with The Band's Visit, I would recommend that. Its buzz is through the roof, and it'll still be in previews on 11/3. If you're interested, go to telechargeoffers.com and enter promotional code TBVATC17. There are $79 front mezzanine seats available for your date.
If your still in town on the fourth, travel 30 mins north to see Company in Concert at Irvington Town Hall Theatre!
There's also Torch Song at Second Stage, which I think you'll like based on other shows you've picked. There's always Kinky Boots (which has some of the OBC leads in so that's going to be pretty good. Also, The Band's Visit yes.

Thank you for all of the suggestions! I will do a little more research...I was just trying not to spend too much money on the ticket because I have already spent so much for the airfare, room, and now different tickets, and that’s not even including meals, etc, That’s all...

If I were you, I would see The Band's Visit, especially at the discount price mentioned and good seats. You are already seeing this year's Tony winners for Best New Musical and Revival. You might as well see a musical that's already got very good reviews in its pre-Broadway run.
I don't know if Waitress is coming near where you live on tour. But if you really want to see that show on Broadway, why not do that?

Thanks, everyone! I bought a ticket to The Band’s Visit for the Saturday 2pm matinee...I spoke with the Telecharge customer service and he said he would be worried I wouldn’t make the 8pm show if my flight gets delayed. I land at JFK at 3pm on Friday?? If I take the subway, will that be hard to make it to Times Square by then? I’m staying at an Airbnb right in Times Square. Regardless, I bought the matinee ticket because I didn’t know it was only a 90 minute show, so I can do that show at 2pm and have plenty of time afterward before Hello, Dolly at 8pm.
Thanks again for all the suggestions!

I agree with this
I still think that you can squeeze in an 8pm show on Friday even if your plane arrives an hour late.
If you like dance, may I suggest Matthew Bourne’s The Red Shoes at New York City Center? I am really looking forward to this since I loved his Swan Lake. It also got raves in London. There are a few side Orchestra (and many side mezzanine) tickets available for $35.
The Red Shoes
On Sunday between 11-12 you can also experience the thrill of the elite runners finishing the Marathon in Central Park. This is typically an electric affair. Have fun!

Thanks for the information! I do like dance, as well...I'll look into the Red Shoes, that would definitely fit in my budget. :). The telecharge guy made me nervous...he told me that there would be a good chance I wouldn't make it from JFK to Times Square for an 8pm show, especially on a Friday. However, if I take the subway, isn't that pretty reliable? I only plan on a small carry on and small backpack to make it easier to get around.
I am going to do a short running tour at 8am Sunday morning. I knew the marathon was that weekend but didn't know the details. That sounds fun, too. I appreciate your input!
