Does anyone really hate any of the following shows (the ones with the stars I just added):
Jersey Boys
Rent
Wicked
Phantom
The Producers
Spamalot
Cats
Miss Saigon
Les Miz
A Chorus Line
Boy From Oz*
Little Shop of Horrors*
Lestat*
Avenue Q*
Rocky Horror Picture Show*
I don't really hate any of these. One doesn't exactly interest me and I haven't seen 3 (well, actually, 5, but I am seeing two out of those very soon). I am just curious.
Tell why you hate that show. dont just say you hate it. Thanx.

Why do you hate Miss Saigon? Because of fake child abuse?
When do they "throw children across the stage" in MISS SAIGON?

Cats has no plot and I think the characters in Phantom aren't the least bit interesting.
You don't remember the game of Keep Away at the top of Act II, SM?
I must've blinked, Rath.
Audrey, if you had stayed for the end credits, you would have seen the disclaimer: "No Children Were Harmed in the Performing of This Show."
ACTUALLY, I never saw the thing. My entire family despises it. My mom stayed but wouldnt listen to any of it. lol. I just think its funny, but my mom doesnt like a lot of stuff.
She knows it was fake, she just didnt like it though.
I probably would sit and watch it, but, as of now, I don't like it so much. Despise is just a bit of an exaggeration lol

I am a teenager, still in school. I have seen so many things it isnt funny lol
Can't sit thru "Les Miserables" for the life in me. Tried sitting thru it 4 times during it's original Broadway run (had friends in it during several periods of it's run) and always left at intermission. I've made every effort to tolerate it, but it just wouldn't happen. Oy!
Not keen on ballads, especially 'showtune'-types of ballads, which answers alot.
AND now the show is back.
Double-oy!

Jersey Boys - I hate it. No matter how many other people like the musical, I just don't like jukebox musicals.
Rent - If it wasn't for the death of Jonathan Larson, it would've closed on off-Broadway
Wicked - Enough said
Phantom - Boring book
The Producers - Full Monty was WAY better
Spamalot - This one's okay.
Cats - I actually like this show. The choreography is what makes the show so great.
Miss Saigon - I LOVE! If you haven't seen the show, you cannot judge it.
Les Miz - The first act might be a bit boring, but I still love the beautiful score, costumes, and the set.
A Chorus Line - How can you hate this show? It's amazing.
Living through one's parent's close-minded opinions never goes well, from what I've seen. "DONT THROW CHILDREN ACROSS THE STAGE" sounds like an anti-Saigon line your mom's fed you that you've taken as truth. Give Miss Saigon a good honest try and then tell us YOUR opinions on what is acceptable in terns of stage acting and content.
P.S. When does the "throwing" even HAPPEN?
Didn't you read Rath's post? At the top of Act II.
I've seen MISS SAIGON a little over 10 times. When does this 'child being thrown across the stage' occur?
Did I miss something during all those viewings? I'd think the kid(s) playing Tam would've at least gotten a better curtain call spot for this stunt wherever it happened.
Jersey Boys- Takes a theater away from new, talented songwriters. And it honestly isn't as good as everyone makes it out to be.
Rent- Past its prime. It's also become much too commercial.
Wicked- Slightly cringe-worthy lyrics, yet quite tuneful. Winnie Holtzman's book cheapens the brilliant novel though.
Phantom- Don't ask. Alright, go ahead. Awful lyrics, awful book, awful music. Hal Prince couldn't even save the show, becuase there's not one interesting moment of staging I remember.
The Producers- Funny, tuneful and colorful. Although it is just clever pastiche, isn't Chicago, Follies, among other lauded pieces? I certainly don't hate this show, although it's film adaptation isn't particulary good.
Spamalot- Any show that begins with a song that has nothing to do with the plot and goes on making references to everyone who has been written about in Entertainment Weekly isn't high on my list.
Cats- An oddball. I don't admire the music very much. In fact, I think it cheapens Elliot's poems, which without the Lloyd Webber tunes, are quite nice.
Miss Saigon- If it were called "The Engineer", it'd be a helluva lot better. The weakest song written for the Engineer is 100 times better than "Sun and Moon" or whatever the hell you call it. I don't care for the title character or her songs at all. (And her introductory verse in the opening is cringe worthy)
Les Miz- It'd work better with spoken dialouge. You can tell when the translator and lyrcist were out of ideas. The music isn't the greatest, although better than Lloyd Webber.
A Chorus Line- I do have a bit of antipithy towards this show since it robbed the brilliant Chicago of several well deserved Tony awards back in 1975. And I think Michael Bennet was slightly cruel and ruthless to the original dancers regarding the rights and so forth, but that's another matter. The book is utter genius. Heartbreaking, funny and brilliant. The lyrics are fine and well crafted as well. The music is fairly tuneful. The staging is of course, excellent. Although I prefer Chicago and its more cynical view on life, this is certainly a show that deserves MOST of the praise it has gotten.
The Producers really bores me, and the score is just blah.

I've always wondered why the show was called MISS SAIGON. Kim doesn't even win the pageant and yet my London cast recording booklet states "introducing Lea Salonga as MISS SAIGON."

I love Jersey Boys, RENT, Les Miz, and Miss Saigon. I like A Chorus Line and Phantom. Spamalot and Wicked are both okay. The Producers and CATS I don't like (especially CATS).

i have always wondered why people can't explain a thread's purpose in the title.
Jersey Boys I'm just of a fan of jukebox period
Rent- great but i think it might be time for it to close way to stunt casted and comersial
Wicked- I like it don't love it
Phantom - Oh boy don't know where to start, Its just a disaster, everything about it.
The Producers - Very funny not high quality classic theater but its still fun
Spamalot - I actualy havn't seen it but i love the music, SO funny
Cats- ewwwwwwww. just thinking of it makes me sick
Miss Saigon - again i have not seen it so i can't realy judge
Les Miz - I love les miz, i am esspecially partial to it becuase it was my first broaday show (at least that i remember)
A Chorus Line - how can you not love this show
well, the whole thing with Saigon... I didnt really say the whole thing.
I dont like the action performed. In which case, I shall close my eyes everytime the kid steps on stage.
I really don't like one show though: Good Vibrations. Practically died in the audience. Very slow, although I did like the surf board thing.
I pretty much like everything else. I basically said Miss Saigon so I could laff and be like "everyone else likes it mom."

Okay...by you saying you hated Miss Saigon, despite never seeing it and only hating it because your famiy hates it...you totally went against your own original post because that is NOT a reason to hate it...
And it's not even "funny." What's so funny about other people liking it, and your mom not? I mean, come on! I'm not trying to attack you, but that's ridiculous.
