Some shows just overstay their welcome. I mean Mamma Mia come on I think we've seen you enough. Just my opinion.

So then don't see them. What would you suggest- we have more vacant houses and out of work actors?

Well, assuming that those who are seeing Mamma Mia would see another show, then there is no harm in it closing for either actors, theatre owners or the broadway economy.

On the plus side it could mean a new, exciting show could open and take its place.

Give me claws and a hunch, just away from this bunch.

Let's talk about posters who've overstayed their welcomes.

Well I'm glad that people are in work and houses are full but I'm just wondering what shows people think are ready to leave.

Where would they go?

The Performers, The Anarchist, Leap of Faith, and that thing with Brendan Frasier ran way too many years. Such good shows could have used those theaters.

I've seen Lion King, Wicked, and Phantom already. So, I honestly can say that they can go now that I've seen them. Haha.

And honestly, with Hunchback OND in the works and The Jungle Book to possibly come on Broadway real soon, I have a feeling that they'll pull a MP/Aladdin and close Lion King to make way for them.

You'll die before The Lion King does.

Disney will buy another theater before closing Lion King to put in another show. C'mon.

There's no way Disney will be closing The Lion King anytime soon. It's a cash cow that's still going strong.

Anything (regardless of whether I've seen or liked it) that can still make money cannot possibly "overstay its welcome". Obviously there are still enough folks that warrants the show stay open.

Claiming there are other shows that could take their place....there is plenty of turnover at other theaters.

Normally I'd be in Dramamama's corner but let's face it: Jersey Boys and Book of Mormon were both so godawful that they NEVER should have opened much less run this long.

Disney has 10+ productions of Lion King going, world wide. They net more money annually on one parking lot at Disney World than they do on all of them combined. Lion King Broadway won't be closing anytime soon, but any decision on whether or not to move it to make way for any of the upcoming productions won't be based on money. They kind of like putting new productions in the New Amsterdam because that's where the Disney Theatrical offices are (not to mention the sunk a ton of money into the renovations of it.)

I'm sure dramamama will do fine without that kind of jaw-dropping troll baiting in her corner.

Words don't deserve that kind of malarkey. They're innocent, neutral, precise, standing for this, describing that, meaning the other, so if you look after them you can build bridges across incomprehension and chaos. But when they get their corners knocked off, they're no good anymore…I don't think writers are sacred, but words are. They deserve respect. If you get the right ones in the right order, you can nudge the world a little.

Brendan Frasier was on Broadway? I can't believe I missed that!

I'm surprised nobody here mentioned Cats. I mean, Cats being the 2nd longest-running show on Broadway history? Really?! The only great thing about that show is the "Memory" song.

It has nothing to do with anyone's personal opinion. The ticket buying masses get what they pay for. It's the same reason why reality tv is the most produced tv shows: we can say we hate it all we want, but the ratings prove us wrong.

$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

It's a business.
